The ficathon has ended, but will remain unlocked so that you can continue to comment on existing fics. Thanks so much to everyone who played!
Welcome to the "It's a Lockhart-Gardner Tradition" 2012 Summer Ficathon!
Hiatus is less painful with fic and a stiff drink! Please to take a shot of tequila prompt, read, and write any pairing, genre, or rating of fic (or fanart, we're not picky!) for the CBS drama The Good Wife.
Rules and format adapted with permission from the lovely folks at
bitesize_bones.
Filled prompts are handily compiled
HERE. First, some basic info for you:
Sorry, what?
In case you're not familiar with comment fic memes, here's how they work:
- someone leaves a prompt, one per comment, as discussed below
- someone else fills the prompt with a comment-sized ficlet or fanart
- everyone consumes, enjoys, and leaves feedback for the kind writer/artist before beginning the cycle again. Yay!
What do I do?
1) Prompt! Prompts can be anything from a specific scenario, to one random word, to new and exciting pairings, to song lyrics, to quotes, to anything else you can think of. Be as general or as detailed as you like! (It's recommended that you designate desired romantic pairings with a slash (/), and desired gen characters with a comma.)
AUs, crossovers, and RPF are also welcome.
Examples:
Kalinda, Alicia: Another conversation with Lamond Bishop
Cary: Ulterior motives for coming back to Lockhart-Gardner
Will/Alicia: Things they do regret
2) Write and create! If you see a prompt that appeals to you, write it! It doesn't matter if you've not written fic before or are nervous or anything else - this is just about having fun, getting some writing or art done, and sharing the love. :D
Prompts/responses do not need to be anonymous but anonymous commenting is enabled for anyone who's feeling especially shy.
More than one person can answer any prompt. However, if you are not the first writer to comment on a prompt, it is HIGHLY suggested that you TITLE YOUR FIC or give some indication in the SUBJECT LINE that you are posting. Else, it's a shame, but those fics collapsed down in the comments tend to go overlooked. :(
Feel free to repost any fics you write in your own journal/ff.net/wherever else you like and/or to post a link in a comment here to a longer fic in your LJ if it won't fit in a comment - just as long as you wrote it for this meme!
3) Leave feedback! If you just read a really funny/hot/well-written/shiny fic, leave a comment telling the author this. Writers and artists who feel appreciated are more likely to keep making us nice things!
4) Rinse and repeat.
What do I not do?
1) Be disrespectful about anyone’s fanworks or choice of prompts.
2) Spoil people. Anything that's aired in the US is fair game, but prompts, fics or comments with future spoilers should contain a clearly marked warning.
How can I share the love?
The lovely banner at the top of the page was created by
mia0112, and it can (and should) be used in other journals and communities for pimping purposes. (Because more people = more fun times.)
Just copy and paste text in this box into the HTML tab of your journal and voila!
This ficathon will run from July 2nd to 23rd 30th... extended due to popular demand! Keep stopping back during that time to check out and leave new prompts and fic.
