Northeastcasey adding: last week one commenter remarked that Kalinda was having bloody visual hallucinations during attempts at sex w both Cary and the cop. In my experience that's from 2 things. First is heartrate. If sex ups the pulse to the high ramge, the body seems to default to "hey, last time I was at 120 bpm, there was blood all over and loved ones were dying and I was helpless, so I guess I'll flash back to that."
Second is that sometimes people subconciously feel the start of ptsd anxiety heading for them and they reach for a distraction to block it - sex and/or drugs frequently. When it hits anyway, they can mistakenly think the sex or drugs are themselves triggering the flashbacks, when really they're just failing to block it out. These are just remembrances and observations of others from a former denizon of the VA Polytrauma unit.
But yeah, those bloody splotches on white tile Kalinda was seeing in Cary's darkened bedroom - oh yes, they're gaining on her. And Alicia's panic/ dissociation moments, likewise. Come on ladies, feel it, let it be real and then let it die!
Welcome Casey! Thanks for your perspective. I agree that there is certainly room for possibility that all these things that seem disappointingly sidelined now COULD come back in a satisfying way. My faith in tv hasn't done anything good for me lately, though, so I stubbornly continue to hope for the best and expect the worst. I am prepared to live happily in my own headcanon if I have to!
