Leonard was angry too - at both her, and himself. He knew he should have been far more rational about things. He knew really that she wouldn't flirt with someone else. She barely flirted with him; she was shy, and he knew that wasn't her style. But it just looked that way. And it hit the wrong nerve ( ... )

Unfortunately for Leonard, Dani had turned off her PADD, and now was crying hard, soaking her pillow with tears. Every time she tried to sort the situation in her head, it all came back to the fact that she resented him for always being right.

No, it wasn't fair to him, but it was how she felt. And could she be in a relationship with him if she always felt herself being wrong? Maybe she wasn't smart enough, or socially adjusted enough for a relationship. Maybe he'd be better off without her.

And that was the last thought she held onto as she fell asleep.

He became more and more antsy as the night went on. Was it really over? Over something so stupid as that? He couldn't just accept that. But when he went downstairs to go to her place, to bang on the door if he had to till she talked to him, his father told him he needed to let Dani have her space tonight. That he needed to let her calm down, so they could talk rationally in the morning.

That was the only reason he stayed home that night. Because he trusted the advice of his father.

The next morning, Dani awoke with a headache. She groaned, rubbing at her brow bone, as the normal thoughts of morning flitted through her head. Shower, breakfast, Leonard... She gasped and threw the covers back, sitting up. She had broken up with him! She looked for her PADD on the floor and dove across the bed for it, but once she had it in her hand, she hesitated. Which would be worse? Him having responded, or him not responding at all?

Setting the PADD on her bed without turning it on, she decided to shower first, to clear her head and hopefully to end her headache.
