Maybe I need a Cellar Door.

Mmmmm, biscotti. I really do love food. Over the past week, I somehow managed to lose four pounds. Many factors probably contributed, such as general loss of appetite and sickliness, and I am pretty sure I will be able to gain all four pounds back in the space of about two minutes. My weight flucuates like crazy.

Happy birthday susanderavish, and all the other cool people that have just had birthdays or have birthdays coming up. :)

I am having writer's block. Eeek. I know it's no big deal, but argh. May I beat my head against my computer screen now? ETA: It looks like a lot of my friends list has writer's block right now, or variations thereof. I'm there with you, guys. <3

Also, since lack of goodfic has sent me running to the badfic, and I've run out of badfic and I'm turning to the B/Mfic, I figured now was the time. I snagged a used copy of Every Nine Seconds (the first of the "authorized" QAF novels) from the bookstore, and will be reading it soon. The sentence structure makes me cringe, but hey, it's better than some crap I've read. Also, it's in book form, so I can feel like I'm a productive reader instead of an internet-obsessed slouch. Right?

Scissor Sisters - Scissor Sisters
I have not listened to much of them yet, but the Scissor Sisters have at least one positive mention in every single magazine I pick up. I figured it was a sign. Apparently, one of the band members is from my state, which is cool. Or maybe it was even my town... I don't remember. And I heard the last track, "Return to Oz", and thought it was delightful and rather creepy. Has anyone seen that movie? I was such an Oz buff when I was little. The original movie always upset me, because they weren't Ruby Slippers, they were Silver Shoes, damnit. :| Anyhow, I expect this CD to be delightful and boppy and campy. We'll see.

I am the World Trade Center - The Cover Up
Not enough people have heard about this band. They're absolutely gorgeous. Disco, electronic, fun dancey kind of music, with contemplation and great vocals. They're fantastic live. I've only heard one song off this CD, but I'm sure the whole thing will be great. Oh man. Although, I hear the singer was recently diagnosed with lymphoma, followed by various other health complications, and then she was bitten by a rabid cat. Ummm. There's just so many ways that sucks. Still, buy their CDs, totally worth it.

Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
I am not a huge Kate Bush fan, but this one CD by her crept into my mind and would not let go. It's just such a bizarre mix of shrill vocals and low sounds and creepy voices and instruments, totally addictive and catchy, though, and she plotted out this big story behind all of it. It's entirely weird. Anyway, I couldn't stop thinking about this CD after watching the kickass Witchblade vid to "Jig of Life", so I'm ordering a copy. It's one of those things that I know I have to have around for when I get in certain moods. I'll just put it on, crank the volume way up, and stare at the ceiling. Or paint, which I don't do often, but Hounds of Love makes me want to.

DVD: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
This is an awesome movie. It's quirky and depressing and fragmented, and it really gives you a feeling of being in Joel Grey's head. Also, I am a sucker for Jim Carrey in a serious role, and this is probably his best serious role. You forget that it's Jim Carrey. He doesn't even look like Jim Carrey after a while. Anyway, the movie visuals are fucking amazing, the theme is tight, Kate Winslet is gorgeous - it's a slightly screwed-up love story for when you have a slightly screwed-up view of what hope is, and it's just perfect. And now I will own it, bwahahaha.
