I do like pop culture, I do

And for some random, longish TV thoughts... Spoilers all over the place!

Hahaha. He flew. I started screeching "OH MY GOD THAT IS SO COOL" over and over during the commercial break. I am such a sucker for the Smallboy fx.

I missed this show. Yay! But I am, as I nearly always am, bored by Lex. I'm sorry, I just don't understand the pretty pain. Sometimes I do, and he's gorgeous when vidded, but Clark is what sells this show for me. Clark is so pretty, and much with the symbolism.

Also, who else absolutely died at Margot Kidder's line about how she and Christopher Reeve's character were in love "in a different life" or whatever? I could not stop laughing. That was fantastic. That was right up there with "Hey! This is the coolest band ever! Don't you think this is a great band, Clark?" and how Smallville residents have a never ending supply of bright red blankets.

Lionel. Oh my. I think it's the eyebrows. Is it the eyebrows? And the buzzed head is so doing it for me. Heissosoevil.

I quite liked the appearance of Lois Lane. She was the shiznit. Very spastic, very highstrung and badass.

Okay, whatsisface, the Jensen guy? Lana's new boytoy? I was very happy to see him. It's Alec off of Dark Angel, man. He was so sarcastic and glorious, and the only thing that made the second season of DA kick ass at all, ever. (Him and the DogFacedBoy.) So I'm interested in knowing where that storyline goes, and how he deals with the mysteriously sexy and tatooed etching Lana he's got going on.

Although when I saw him in the intro/credits, I did start giggling hysterically and say "Oh my god, look, they made Pete white!" What happened to Pete, anyway? I forgot that part of last season.

I miss Chloe. Although, Clark, you dumbass, maybe she was incinerated. Maybe that's why she's not in her fucking grave.

I only caught the last bit of CSI:NY, and had no clue what was going on, but whoa is that show gorgeous. The camera angles, the dark noir-style coloring, and that last scene at Ground Zero completely blew me away. I may have to start watching that show just so I can soak in all the grit and angst and pretty.

Umm, yeah. The hair isn't working. I empathize more with Joan when I can see her eyebrows.

Things are so very fucked up for that family, aren't they? The only normal, happy guy is the one that's paralyzed and in a wheelchair. And with the lawsuit business, it won't be long before he's angsty as all get out, too.

The rabbit killing wife freaked me out. Oh god. That was really horrific.

I liked Joan's lamps. But I miss the old her, too. A lot, actually. She'd better come back soon.

It was cool that cute!God was the one to finally come and try to talk sense into her. But I also liked the skateboarder that gave one of those Godlike backwards waves when Joan wasn't looking. That made me squeal.

Oddly enough, this episode of Joan of Arcadia was the first one to clash with my atheism in any way. I guess I just didn't like how God tried actively to get Joan back on his home team, when before it's just been the way things have worked out, and He's just guided them in mysterious unseen ways or whatnot. But God's direct approach kinda gave me a weird vibe. Oh well. I will live. I do like this show quite a bit, and I'm sure it'll start meshing with me again quite soon.

George was incredibly funny and heartbreaking with her dumpedness. She kneed the groom mannequin in the crotch, man. Repeatedly. And Mason is so her big brother, it's not even funny.

Roxy kicks ass. Mason kicks ass. Rube (and his dumb teenage helper) kick ass and make me weep. And Doris is OMGSOFUCKINGCOOL. I'm not currently sure what I think of Daisy.

I forsee this romance for George's mom ending badly. :S Gah. I dunno. I'm paranoid.

Also, is this supposed to be George finally letting go of life? Like, honestly truly? Because I'm not sure I like it.

Okay, I find the L Word really very boring compared to QAF. I do. But when watching the preview, I couldn't help but notice that they all finally have GOOD HAIR. And you have no idea how excited I am about this. I mean, before, I was watching the show and thinking "This is really not that entertaining, and they all have bad hair, even Shane who is really really hot." And now I can watch the show and think "This is really not that entertaining, but at least they all have cool hair, and Shane is really really really hot, may I please ravish her now, and also Alice ain't too bad either." Which is like a five gazillion times better reaction. I am so psyched for the next season.

And what was the whole thing about Marina? "She was calling your name"? What, did she get tragically crushed by a semi? :|

I really like this show. It makes me nervous, though, because every single second I'm convinced something horrible is going to happen to the main character.

I wouldn't be wrong, either. I mean, in this episode alone (I didn't see the first one), Veronica was threatened several times, date raped, had her best friend murdered, had her car smashed in, everyone despises her, her traumatized boyfriend broke up with her, her dad lied to her, and her mom disappeared off the face of the earth only to reappear supposedly having an affair with the father of the afore-mentioned dead friend who had also been the main suspect in his daughter's murder case. And only about a third of those things were flashbacks.

I like its style, though, and it's funny and awful all at once. I think the whole "instant cult favorite!" thing might have some merit.
