Okay so first off I have to ask, how funny was Glee the other night? The assembly routine was hilariously inappropriate. Loved it. I am so watching it again tonight.
But now for the ack of my subject line. I was going to make a House Scarf for my brother for Christmas. Well I have discovered that the website with the pattern doesn't work anymore. At least not for me. So now I am patternless. I may ask and see if anyone over at
hp_knitting has the directions. Though I am not sure if this is what I definitely want to make for him or not. Especially considering that he might move to FL. But then he did request I make him one. I thik he is enough of a nerd that if he did move back to FL he would still enjoy the scarf. It is not like I have any ideas for him. He is the most difficult person to buy a present to. A scarf would be much cooler than a gift card (the only other plausible solution).
I am also confused about what to knit for my mom. I had started knitting a shawl for my mom that she said she liked a few months ago. Today she mentioned that she would like a pair of Fetching from knitty.com. So now I am not sure what to do. I guess I am going to have to pro/con it Rory style.
Pros of completing the shawl:
- I have already started knitting the shawl and could pick it up and start knitting it now
- I paid a pretty penny for the yarn
- I would gt a lot of practice with a lace pattern
Cons of completing the shawl:
- It will take a LOT of time to complete. A lot of time I don't have with classes and volunteering.
- I am not sure how much I like the yarn for this pattern. I am unsure about how I like the drape of the material, and I don't know if it will improve or get worse the longer it gets.
- I am not sure how much Mom would really use it.
Pros of knitting the wristwarmers:
- They are quick, easy, and fun
- I think she would use these more, especially since she wants them to match her work uniform.
- I already know she really likes the completed project as she loved mine.
- I could use the yarn from the shawl project to make myself a deliciously, warm, soft scarf. Practical and stylish.
Cons of knitting the wristwarmers:
- I would have to buy more yarn and money is so ridiculously tight.
-I may have to wait and get yarn when I go home for fall break. That is kind of a while to wait and Christmas flies!
I hate to say this, but I think it would probably be best for me to scrub the shawl project for another time. I can find better yarn for the shawl and also I can make the wristwarmers that are way fun. Plus I don't want to get out of practice with the techniques used for them.
Now if only I could access that site for the HP scarf!
