I have been sick for ages. No seriously, it's been like two weeks. I finally went to the doctor for it on Monday, and got some meds. They've helped, and I'm mostly better now. I can breathe again. I just have a bit of congestion left, and some gunk in my lungs I still need to hack up.
I thought I was able to smell again, so I joyfully tried out my new 5ml of Velvet Unicorn from BPAL just now - and was horrified too realize that I smelled nothing - nothing! - even with my nose right on my skin. I slathered thickly on my other wrist, and still nothing. So I went and shoved it under my mom's nose, and she practically fainted it was so powerful. Alas! My sense of smell has still not returned. This better not be a permanent development. I love my BPAL too much!
Today was the Day of Silence. I printed off little cards to show people, to explain why I wasn't talking. In my first hour, there's a girl who I'm friends with who was also participating. She had brought a spool of rainbow ribbon. She cut me two pieces, one to tie around my wrist, and one to pin to my shirt in the shape of a support ribbon. It was pretty great, how many people I saw throughout the day, wearing ribbons and stickers that had a rainbow and "I support" on it. Even if they weren't participating in the silence, they were still supporting. It made me happy. This is a cause I believe so strongly in. I mean, love is the movement! Love and let love! I feel so hippy-ish today!
