Alright, fine, after the ice cream I stopped reading, and not because shagging had occured. Quite the contrary - I was getting pissed off at the book, so I watched an episode of Sex and the City then poked around online. Then Jake IMed me, and we caught up on all that's been going on, since we haven't really had much of a chance to talk lately. He has a new girlfriend. The most exciting thing going on in my life is that I have a new Starbucks winter favorite - hot chocolate and a peppermint brownie.
After a little while, he invited me into a chatroom with him and some of his friends from university. It's always awkward for me when people do this - I never know what to say. Especially if the other people in the chat have already struck up a conversation prior to your entering said chat.. However, after a little while I loosened up and actually ended up having fun talking to all of them. His new girlfriend and I especially hit it off. She's an avid reader, she loves RENT, and she watches Nip/Tuck. And we appeared to have the same kind of sense of humor. It was.. almost eerie. That she's a lot like me, and he's dating her.
I'm probably making something out of nothing, though. I mean, even Jake wouldn't cling to something so utterly hopeless. He knows I'm not attracted to him. He knows I consider our friendship familial in nature. I consider him a part of my little imaginary pack.. [Which includes Alice and Faith, along with my blood family as well.] We are pack, but definitely not suited to be mates. Surely even he wouldn't be stubborn and stupid enough to pine away.
But whatever. My point in writing this is that I had fun talking with them. Jake pointed out to me that even if I'm having trouble making friends here, I still have friends back home on the east coast.. And that I'd just made some new ones. I don't know about that, it's a bit quick to assume them as long-term friends.. But I enjoyed the chat.
And now, off to bed with "Fool's Fate".
