This summer has been going excellently, even if nobody wants to hire me to work! Alice has acquired a job, and she likes it quite well.
ME: How was your second day of work?
ALICE: Good! Today I met the woman who lives in a tent up on the hill!
ME: ..not in a van down by the river?
ALICE: That would be her cousin.
I, while jobless, have still managed to keep myself busy and industrious.
ME: (storming the bookstore) WHERE IS IT WHERE IS IT WHERE IS IT OH MY GOD THERE IT IS, IT IS ON A SHELF, IT IS BRIGHT AND IN COLOR AND THREE DIMENSIONAL!
ALICE: Um. People are staring.
ME: (sifting through The Demon's Lexicon) There are words! There are actual words on these pages!
ALICE: Let's not get you coffee.
(two days later)
ME: (emerging from behind book, with dazed expression) Sequel. Sequel. When does the sequel come out? I need more. I need more Jamie, more Nick, more demons and swords and affectionate angst! I NEED MORE!
ALICE: So, how was your day? What did you do while I was at work?
ME: It was excellent and productive! After we came to embarrass you at work, we went to Target, where we bought nothing, and then we came home, and I put my laundry in the drier, and then I slept! I woke up just about ten minutes ago!
ALICE: ...
A lovely time! Tomorrow we go to the zoo, and after that, Alice is determined to spend her money, so we shall go do that! I am only too pleased to help people spend money.
