I don't think Toronto or Montreal would require the GRE either. And Toronto is a great city to live in -- if you can handle the winter.

I'd actually consider those places because they're MUCH cheaper than DC. I have no problem with winter, of course. I'll be honest - I have yet to think that far. Are Canadian masters programs one year or two years?

It depends on the program -- and how good you are at handling academic deadlines. Some Masters-level programs are technically one year, but student manage to stretch it out because the writing or research takes longer than they expected. (Or other commitments such as work, family, or travel interfere. Or procrastination.)

Check out the online program information, and if necessary send an e-mail or make a phone call to find out more details.
