10 Things I Want To Do In 5 Years

May 05, 2011 19:30

It's been awhile since I wrote a long, meaningful post. Whenever I feel a need to update this blog, I always want to make sure it's something important or meaningful that I want to write/talk about it. I don't know why. You'll probably realize I rarely make any "causual" or short posts like the "random thoughts of the moment" kind of posts. I tend to do those on my tumblr because I feel like it's a place where I can be random and post any random or sporadic thoughts that's on my mind, but when it comes to actual blogging, I tend to like making long posts with important content. That is probably why I fail to update this blog so much because it requires much more time to make posts with meaningful content, lol.

Anyway, I wanted to make a post on 10 things I want to do/accomplish in the next 5 years so that I can reflect back on them and see how I've progressed with these 10 goals. I'm a type of person who always like to set goals in my life because it gives me a meaning and purpose to work hard for each and everyday. I don't like living life not knowing what I'm living for or what I want to do. I'm also a dreamer. I have a lot of dreams in life that I want to accomplish. I basically live my life dreaming and I want to continue dreaming and make every one of my dreams come true.

01. GO TO DISNEY WORLD

Going to disney world has always been one of my childhood dreams. I've never had a chance to go because my parents were poor and could not afford tickets to go and now that I'm older, they definitely don't see the need in me going. However, growing up watching disney movies, I've always want to go and experience this "magical kingdom" place myself in real life someday. And yes, when I go to disney world I'm going to buy TONS of those mickey balloons and stroll around the whole disney world with them, haha. =P Hopefully I can make this dream come true within the next year or two.

02. WATCH DISNEY ON ICE

Watch disney on ice is another one of my childhood dreams. I remember watchng it on TV and how much I wish I could see it in real life. I'm not quite sure what it is that's so special about disney on ice to me, but there's something "magical" and "beautiful" about it that makes me really want to see it. I actually plan on making this dream come true hopefully this Christmas because I know watching disney on ice is not that expensive. The most expensive ticket is actually under $100.

03. MAKE A TRIP TO NEW YORK CITY

I've always wanted to visit New York City. It's strange how close New York City is from Toronto but yet I've never been there. This is also another one of my goals that I want to accomplish by the end of this year. A trip to New York isn't actually that expensive so this goal is most likely achievable to make it come true. All I gotta do is just renew my passport. =)

04. GO TO TOKYO, JAPAN.

This is probably the biggest goal/dream on my list. I originally had plans on going there sooner but with the eathquake happening and all, I'm not sure if it'd be a good idea to make a trip there so soon. I'd probably give it a 3 years wait just because Japan will need time to recover from all the tsunami and earthquakes and also because I want to go when Japan is in a good state of condition. And hopefully by that time I'd have more money saved up and be able to tour more places in Japan.

O5. SPEND CHRISTMAS IN HONG KONG

I've always wanted to spend Christmas in Hong Kong because of how beautiful the street light decorations are in Hong Kong. Christmas is probably one of the biggest celebration for people in Hong Kong, it might even be bigger than Chinese New Years. Christmas is actually really important to people in Hong Kong and the light decoratons in the street and even in their shopping malls are amazing! It's strange how Christmas didn't originate in Asia and yet most Asian countries make it bigger than it seems in comparison to American countries like the U.S. and Canada. And living in Canada for almost 20 years, I can definitely tell you Christmas in Canada is pretty much craptastic compared to places like Hong Kong and Japan. Sometimes you don't even feel the Christmas spirit here in Canada. What a shame. One year I would like to experience a festive and spiritual Christmas holidays in Hong Kong or Japan.

06. GO TO A LATERN FESTIVAL / MID AUTUMN FESTIVAL IN CHINA

I really love lanterns and lantern festivals! Sadly, growing up in Canada, I've never really experienced a real lantern festival or just to experience what mid autumn festival is like outside of Canada. As a child, I've always wanted to experience holding a really cute lantern with candles inside on mid autumn festival. It was probably much influenced by my Chinese teacher who taught us how to make lanterns when I was a child. There is this child side of me that wants to experience the a miracle fun of holding a real lantern with a candle inside and strolling around in the market looking at lantern lights just like how it is seen in those Chinese TVB series. It makes me wonder why isn't there lantern festivals in China where people get to dress up in traditional wears like how Japan have people wearing yukatas for the hanabi festival in the summer? Perhaps there is but it's just my lack of knowledge for not knowing these things exist for I have been living in Canada almost all my life. One year, for a change and once in a lifetime, I want to spend mid autumn festival in China where I can fulfill my childhood dream of playing with lanterns. Yes, I have a child-like heart at times and it's part of the reason why I decided to go into ECE. I like and enjoy doing child-like things because it makes me happy. Maybe it's just because I'm trying to fulfill all these things I never got to do as a child.

07. GO TO NIAGARA FALLS

I've been to niagara falls before when I was about 10 or so. However, I don't have much memory of it and I would like to go again someday. This time I'd like to go to the casinos there and see the beautiful water light falls at night.

08. GO TO AN AQUARIUM

I've always wanted to go to an aquarium ever since I was a child. It's kind of ironic because I'm actually really afraid of being under water due to a phobia from a near death experience when I was 3 years old. However, I always had this love for the mysterious but yet magical under water world. I want to be able to see dolphins, fish and other different water animals swim in the aquarium. I'd especially love to go to an aquarium like in this photo with a tunnel where I can watch the fish fly by above me. I know I'd probably be really scared at first but I'd still like to go see a beautiful aquarium filled with fishes. The aquarium in this photo is actually one located in Osaka, Japan. Somehow I actually think going to an aquarium is a really romantic thing to do on a date, lol.

09. A TRIP TO VANCOUVER, CANADA

I've been to Vancouver once when I was little, before I actually came to live in Toronto actually. But I have no memory of it and I have always wanted to go again someday. A lot of people I know who's been to Vancouver has told me that it's a really nice place to for vacation. I'd like to go there for vacation someday since I also have relatives living there. I don't know. I'm just really sick of being stuck in Toronto. A lot of Hong Kong celebrities also immigrate to Vancouver when they retire too. It must be so much better there since not many of them would immigrate to live in Toronto, lol.

10. LEARN TO PLAY THE PIANO

The piano has always been an instrument I have wanted to learn since I was a child. No music instrument sound beats the sound of piano for me. It's such a peaceful, elegant, melancholy instrument that one can ever play. I remember begging my mom countless of times to buy me a keyboard when I was young but she refused to buy me it every time. Since then I have made a promise to myself that when I'm older, I will buy myself a keyboard and learn how to play the piano. I remember my best friend had a keyboard and I was so jealous of her that I'd go over to her house everyday just to play with it. That's when I learned how to play the "happy birthday" song and a few classic musical songs. I have never wanted to be a pro at the piano. I was just a child who wanted to learn how to play my favourite music on the piano. Up until this day, this has always been one of my most wanted to accomplish dream/goal and I will make it happen. It's a promise I made to myself as child and one that I'd like to fulfill and keep.

These are probably not really any big dreams/goals to anyone but they are just rather small dreams/goals that I have set myself to accomplish within the next 5 years. Most of it is really just childhood dreams/goals that I never had a chance to accomplish. Five years from now, I'd like to look back on this post and hopefully I can accomplish most if not all of the goals/dreams on this list. I have faith in myself that I will succeed in making them all come true. =)

goals, dreams
