I finished my hw for Teaching Fellows at 11:05 and contemplated walking 15 min to class just to sneak in late and listen to the lecture while I do my Spanish hw...but decided maybe just to sit at home, update my lj, check my email, finish my Spanish, relax a little bit, cook some lunch since i probably won't get to eat until after work, and maybe get started on some of my hw for this weekend. That's a lot to do in 90 min. :b So, I'm glad that I'm skipping class to get some stuff done but I really need to stop skipping this class >.< (I have all the notes for it online from a person who took the class and wrote down all the notes and then posted them and the quizzes online... so class is a huge waste now) Well, just to show you how uber busy I am, I'll include my schedule:
9:30am - first test in Child Development
11am - Children's lit (but I'm skipping)
12:20am - Teaching Fellows Seminar (we're meeting the NC Teacher of the Year)
2pm - Spanish Class
3:30pm - run over to study abroad to catch the last 30 min of the "return to the US" party
4:15-4:45 Drive to south Charlotte
4:45-5:45 Tutor Pre-algebra
6-7 Tutor Physics
7:15-8:15 Tutor Algebra
8:15-8:45 Drive back to University
....if I'm lucky which means I'll probably get back about 9:15 between needing more travel time/longer sessions for any of the students. AND I am doing this on 5 hrs of sleep
I'm really not happy with the whole "spend 1.5 hrs driving around south charlotte to teach 3 kids" but the 17x3 dollars is nice. Private tutoring is so good for teacher training because you learn a LOT about how crazy parents can be because they are right in the next room and want to know *everything* that you go over and sometimes pop in to listen to you tutor their child. I'm sure the children get grilled whenever I leave to find out if I'm effective or not, and sometimes I worry about their answers. (because I don't know everything in the world, I sometimes have to say "I don't know" which scares me >.<)
Tuesday I received a voicemail that I listened to while I was carrying in groceries which I half paid attention to and had a vague notion that Amanda might talk to me about becoming president during this semester. However, when I arrived at club, she was on Vicadin and acting quite silly and asked if I would refuse a nomination for president. I had kind of known this was coming but was still a little shocked when I told her that of course I wouldn't refuse. So, during the meeting, she said she would like to step down and opened nominations for president. The president has to be a student, so someone asked that all the students raise their hands and a small group of us did so. Then Amanda asked "who is willing to be president?" and I was the only one with my hand in the air. So, I ran unanimous and I noticed a few hands raised when my name was called that I thought wouldn't vote for me and was soooooo happy! Thanks to everyone who voted for me even though I was the only candidate... you make me warm and fuzzy inside ^_^ In conclusion, I am the newest President of Anime Club and got lots of congratulations and hugs last night. I'm a little intimdated, but I'm going to take this weekend to make out a list of questions to ask Amanda when she's feeling better and to think about if there's anything I would like to maybe change or make better...
Well, I'm off to tackle that spanish hw, but I'll leave you with the first posted Spain pic:
Yes, that's me, drinking wine at a table outside a bar with some of my friends. ^_^ I so miss being the drinking age...
