The Equivocator

Jan 27, 2007 12:52

I wrote this a little while ago, but never got around to posting it. I just added the last three stanzas. If you think they don't fit in well, just say so because I can take them out without being too terribly heartbroken. :)

The Equivocator

Strip.

Strip down to the bare bones,
The bare facts,
The bare reasons.

No more poetry,
Equivocating,
Or rationalizing.

I’ve heard enough desrciption
For me to say the words
In a thousand different ways
With a hundred similes
And fifty metaphors.

But now it’s just-
I love you.

I love you.

And that overrides my hate,
But never my caution.

Because your life is caustic,
Burning everything it touches.
Even me.

You dark hair can’t hold me,
But your eyes might.

And all the emotion in the world,
Is poured out on me,
Like a waterfall,
Suddenly released.
And I know you’re something
That I just can’t have-
And I shouldn’t want to.
