Last night my computer just stopped working.  No clue why or how.  We shut it down and re-booted after a few minutes.  It took forever to boot back up.  I mean like at least 10 minutes.  So he shut it down again and it took a lot less time to re-boot, but still more than usual

Try a virus scan from another provider and several spybot programs.... I had major probs with mine at one point and it took three virus programs and four spybot searchers to find the probs and remove them.

What virus scan(s) did you use? We already use several spy & malware programs. I can't afford to purchase a bunch of virus scan programs so do you have one you recommend?

I use AVG (only freeware antivirus I have) and Spybot Search and Destroy (it was this one that finally found the malware)

Is that the same as Avast- That's what we use. I think am not sure what spybot we use but I will mention this to Tom

Oh and it might be worth checking what toolbar add ons you have. One called SweetIM which also adds emoticons to MSN Messenger is a trojan.

We don't have any add-ons except for a picture viewer for facebook.
