Yesterday Elle, Tom and I had a meeting at KCHS to talk to the Principal, Academic Dean, and Disciplinary Dean about Elle returning next semester. The Disciplinary Dean called us before Elle went to Martha's Vineyard on vacation to set up the appointment, we thought it was just with him, not the whole group of them. They seemed really big on the idea.
Tom and I still have a lot of reservations. The money is a big issue, so is the distance. We are also very concerned about paying for school again when her grades were so bad at the end of last year. Of course sophomore year started out so well at KCHS, it wasn’t until she transferred to west that her grades went to hell in a hand basket.
She wants to go back so badly, but the course work is going to be really hard and I don't want her grades to suffer. The other consideration is the fact that Katie will also be going back too. I just don't know if we can swing it. I want to do whats best for her educationally but without ruining myself financially, or making the other children suffer.
Tom and I are trying to decide what to do. It's a big commitment for all of us. We have told Elle that if we let her go back- and that it is still a big if, that I can see NO zero's on Edline (computer on-line report that teachers update either daily or weekly depending on the teacher but school requires weekly) no failing test grades, and if she is having trouble in classes she must go to tutoring. The teachers offer it after school daily. She will also be strictly internet restricted and homework and grades will be monitored closely, because if grades fall she will be withdrawn. We can't tolerate failure.
