I didn't accomplish much today, but I did sign my son (Thomas) up for British Soccer Camp today.  Yeah I know it's expensive but he really enjoys soccer and Elizabeth loved it when she went and played for quite a long time afterwards- disliking a coach is why she finally gave it up- she still claims to play.  I think he'll learn a lot so hopefully ( Read more... )

The word Soccer is derived from Association Football, the governing body is still called the Football Association.The game is played eleven a side,as opposed to Rugby Union (15) and Rugby League (13) It is also played with a spherical ball whereas the Rugby codes use an oval ball,as I believe does American Football. The Australians have their own game (Aussie Rules) no idea how that is played...it all gets a bit complicated.

I think it's what you would call football, it's soccer to us. It's put on by young kids who come from Britain to teach the kids, they are in there late teens and early 20's as I recall.
