'cause you are so analog

Last night I completely finished my monkey scarf, so of course it was too warm this morning to think about wearing it. I'm going out tomorrow night (after I get a bunch of cavities filled, damn my stupid teeth), so I'll have to plan my outfit around it. Nothing like going to a tiki bar wrapped in a monkey scarf. Let's just hope by then I've stopped squeeeeing over it. No one wants to see me stumbling around drunk, pointing to my own scarf and yelling, "BABY MONKEY!!!!"

(I've been craving another mexihattan since we went to Mexicali last week. Who'll go with me sometime this week?)

Thanks to the wonderful corenrind I am listening to the lovely new Neko Case album, and thanks to my new job I can totally swing by Amoeba on my way home from work next Tuesday and pick it up for real. Yesterday I tacked up a short Neko interview in my cube where she responds to a question about Playboy with "Man, why don't you ask Tom Waits when he's going to be nude in Playboy? [laughs] That would be hot." I really love Neko.

We are getting closer to ironing out the details of my duties here, which is fairly exciting, as they aren't really assistanty things. [ETA: I know, like, two people will get this, but when I find out what my duties entail, I'll have to figure out the absolute most awkward way to tell y'all, by starting out a sentence such as "What my duties entail" and then defining what they DO NOT entail because Mr. Robot Lady is totally my hero and I want to be as verbally awkward as he is.] I know it's been less than a week, but so far I feel really good about taking this job. It's weird; because of the details of the buyout and transition period, I still have my old email address (and a new one... it's a bit confusing) so I'm still getting emails on things I was dealing with. And it's nice to just be done with them. I love the way my move worked out; I love that I'm starting rather fresh here.

work, neko
