it's amazing how all of this sounded a lot better in my head than when i actually went to sit down and type it. but here goes.

everyone has one thing he or she really really could not live without. whether it be that stuffed animal you've had since you were three, the first tape you ever remember listening to, or maybe something even as silly as your favourite curling iron. i don't know, everyone has one. others don't really even have a tangible favourite possesion, some just value their eyesight, or their fingers a lot.

well recently i've just been thinking about what it would be like if i didn't have that possession anymore. various things have been ripped away from me in my lifetime; friendships, relationships, loved ones even. but i never thought about my most valuable possession being taken away from me, at least not realistically.

i'm not sure why i've decided to post about this. it just seems that a lot has been at stake recently; that i've been neglecting lots of things, therefore threatening their existence (like my ability to play certain pieces on the paino), and maybe even neglecting people.

i really had a rather abrupt awakening, or maybe even a series of them, and it just made me realize that i, as well as others, take for granted my ability to use my fingers, my ability to hear my brother screaming in the morning. i take for granted the people that care, sometimes just because i don't have a reason to talk to them everyday. sometimes i push people away because i don't have any way of getting out of my box, and it begins to fill up. sometimes i take everything for granted just because i've trained myself to do so.

i want to wake up and be thankful that i can still smell my sheets and call my best friend and know that she won't mind no matter what time it is.

i think i'm going to try hard to do just that.
