happy birthday
dollyknuckles I am currently writing this entry with my laptop hooked up to the new television set. While there are some practical applications for this (e.g. Sandy had sending me footage of The Early Mixes), it is for the most part something of a novelty. Nevertheless, curiosity to see how well it would or wouldn't work prompted me to actually fix my wireless router so I can be more ambulatory while I blog, which I must admit is a bit of a relief. It is nicer to putter around online listening to music on my sound system than it is to do so with it playing on my computer.
After listening to Kritzerland's new release of Two for the Seesaw (three times) and giving another spin to both The Subterraneans and The Fortune Cookie, I have come to an inescapable conclusion: ANDRÉ PREVIN IS AWESOME. I have just ordered a bunch of his scores, including The 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Dead Ringer, Elmer Gantry and FSM's new release of Inside Daisy Clover. Previn is a composer whose work eluded me partially because of a dearth of CD releases but also because I'd rarely come across films that he'd done, but he makes some cookin' jazz while also reaching into your soul.
