The outside is so utterly beautiful. We have extensive deck space at home that I'm going to miss at college. I'm sitting in the shade in a deck chair, my trusty laptop here with me.
Welcome days for college as well as my auditions are THIS THURSDAY. That only gives me a few days to a) write two compositions b) buy all my dorm stuff, but I think we're going to ikea tomorrow c) and dye my hair pink and blue again.
Yesterday was good to get out of my system. It was my friend Rob's "birthday" party...much too late to be his actual birthday party, but more or less his excuse to invite all of us to a halo party. Halo party?! Wasn't that so two years ago? So I had to be cajoled into playing a few rounds of team slayer and capture the flag. >.< At least they decided ping pong was more fun soon after. I had a good time talking to Rob's friend after dinner about funny college stories, his ER stories cuz he's in pre-med, as well as those societal thought classes colleges make you take for your GE. Man, why are all the people I enjoy talking to going into pre-med? With my luck, I'll end up marrying a doctor.
I also talked to my friend Cory, who's also going to be a music composition major, but at a local college. He's obsessed with playing the piano everywhere he goes. And...rumors can stop flying because it's finally out that he's dating my best friend, Amanda. Rumors make me want to punch puppies. There are so many different approaches to music. I've known the ins and outs of music theory ever since I was a little girl. Some people only are trained in chords and a song's chordal structure. Others, like Cory, just put their hands to the keyboard and play what they hear sounds alright. I know I'm going to become a stickler about art in music, but with a complete lexicon of music theory playing in my brain.
I love Arthur magazine. New music recommendations from them are to be trusted. Jex Thoth came up under some of their reviewers, so I decided to check them out. A female frontwoman to a metal band a la Sabbath, but with a sort of Doors vibe? AND a comparison to Frumpy's frontwoman, Inga Rumpf? This is purdy good, people. (I can upload their debut album if you're interested.)
