"Maybe I'll go to Amsterdam, or maybe I'll go to Rome"

If I didn't know better, I'd have sworn men were the more emotional sex. Facebook, you are a seed for rumors, indeed.

Lecture for Humanities today was over Roman art and architecture. *squee* I just plain need to go to Rome. It made me homesick (read: vacationsick) for the Roman baths in Bath, England. I remember I was the last one still walking around reading the signs and one of the teachers came back and told me to hurry up. :P

We also got our essay questions that'll be on the final. I'm going to need to study a bunch, man. I'm having too much fun regarding ancient civillizations through the wonder and amazement of my wide-eyed childlike nature.

Interesting, though, that the Pantheon, where ALL the pagan Roman gods were worshipped, became a church...which is the only reason it wasn't destroyed entirely. I asked about that and the professor said that all sacred sites usually stay sacred, just shifting to the religion of the times. (Like Athena statues were just covered and seen as Mary or other such pishposh.) What'll the Pantheon become next? A science lab? I'd bet money on it in a deliciously tongue-in-cheek metaphorical way.

I ate lunch with my friend, Ivan. We were going to talk about the essay questions, but psshaw, like we would study at lunch. He's on the same floor as Russell and them. I swear, the fun floor. He says he can't get any work done though, lol.
We started talking about dreams and lucid dreams and dream symbols. Fascinating stuff. He said he'd tried to have lucid dreams before, but just ended up waking up because he got excited that he was mentally aware in the dream. He said his dream symbol is that there's always water or an ocean, even though he said he was an earth type. My dream symbol is that none of my dreams take place in places I recognize. I'll know in my head that it's supposed to be school or somewhere, but it won't look like it at all. He replied when I told him that, "Maybe you're just a really accepting person." Perhaps. He asked what sort of symbol I was. I answered "Air" straight away. I don't know why, but maybe that has something to do with my acceptingness?
Then we discussed what a symbol the desert is. He said religious leaders always seem to have treks through the desert. He compared 'water' to 'god'...and maybe the desert symbolizes walking through a land where people disagree with your view of god/God. Hmm... I've found most Americans answer that they believe in spirituality to fill in the gaps science can't fill in their emotions. We both agreed that was sad.

Pps- In the case of ancient ruins, because it seems real, visceral, and tangible...for some reason it makes me believe in magic.
But in the case of moral grounds, because it seems real, visceral, and tangible...for some reason it makes me belive it's ok.
