Writing, Life, Etc.
Ok. Today I started working on a project to encourage me to write more and be creative.
To say I love novels and books is a small comment when you consider that I have over 3,000 books in my room that I have read. That is not to say I don't have books I haven't read too. Books are wonderful objects, to take you to a new place, revisit an old place, or to just discover something new. I have books on every topic imaginable. I have nonfiction and fiction. From classics to unknown authors to modern to ancient. My collection of books has come a long way over the years. I have books over 100 years old and books as young as a couple of months. I have books in French, German, Czech, and English. Hmm. I might also have Spanish. I have books on books. I have mysteries, romances, horror, suspense, mystic, paranormal, plain old literature, grammar, writing, psychology, sociology, erotica, baby names, animals, history, poetry, space, star trek, B5, um ... the list could go on and on. Hehe. Makes me wonder why patrons give me a funny look when I ask them what type of books they like to read. If there's a subdivision of genre, I'll know it and probably have read it at least once.
Anyways, my project is writing a short story that might turn into a novel. At first I was thinking about writing a play or puppet show, but I think a short story/novel might work better for the topic I have in mind. It probably will not be a short story, but I want my goal to be to write a short story by my birthday and have Mumsy read it. This week I'm going to work on the background information that I feel I need before I write anything. Yeah, it's the way I write everything. I have to do some preliminary writing first i.e. brainstorming about the who, what, when, where, why, and how. That gives me an idea about any questions I might have about my story and allows me to expand on anything that needs it. Tonight I worked on getting name ideas, my story takes place in Czechoslovakia and Austria with Russian influences. I haven't really told Mum what I'm writing about because I want her first impression.
Life is going okay right now. I'm bored out of my mind with no school. I need to find a full time job, but because of hiring freezes in my field of work I just don't feel pressured to find a job currently. Eh. I want something that I will enjoy at least a little bit. Ya know?
Birthday is the 21st and am planning on going to North Georgia for the day with Parentals. That should be interesting to say the least. I can't believe I'll be turning 24 this year, just seems like yesterday that I was graduating from Harlem High. Wow.
