Obviously check out 'Requiem for a Dream' if you haven't already.

'Spun' would be another.

And if you DON'T look at the box, you can rent the 'House of Yes'. If you see who's in the movie you probably won't rent it though.

Spun was garbage. I like the actors in it, but it just seemed like the generic version of this type of film. Putting comedy in ruined its realism. Requiem, on the other hand, felt like a real story. No inserted comedic tones to make you disbelieve it. It'll stay with you where as Spun falls out of your head and never returns until you read a live journal entry.

On a side note, I just saw Butterfly Effect today and that was a good movie. I saw the director's cut and I was told the theatrical ending was different, the theatrical ending sounded better. Not nearly as disturbing as Requiem though.

IMDB.com is always a good source for movies if you don't trust people you know :)

Check out "Big Fish" if you get the chance... it reminded me a lot of "what dreams may come"... I think you'd like it... the ending is... well, it's sad, but not super depressing.... Defnately not some messed up, "what the hell just happened" type of ending.
