Summary: Doojoon makes a deal with the demon to grant his wish.
Nine Years and Six Months Later
Doojoon woke up to a body straddling him, lips nibbling at his ear and two hands lightly tracing a path from his stomach to his chest. He faintly heard the shower running before he grunted and reached his hand towards the invader’s neck, peeking at the intruder’s face.
“What are you doing? What if Yoseob sees us?” he mumbled stroking the area behind Junhyung’s ear, eyes closed again.
“He was the one who asked me to wake you up and he got in the shower five minutes ago.” Junhyung answered before giving the sleeping man a fervor kiss. When the kiss ended Doojoon only let out a growl as he sat up, hands circling around Junhyung’s frame, and tumbled them around, as for Doojoon to be on top of the demon.
“Morning.” He whispered as he gave a quick kiss to the being and then stood up. “I’m going to take a shower.”
“Don’t take too long.” Junhyung teased and Doojoon only waved his hand as to shoo the demon’s words away.
After that one night three and half years ago Doojoon and Junhyung did repeat their fling a few more times in the span of the next eight months. After that things got more frequent, both of them got more daring as time passed by too; depending on how mad Doojoon was or how horny Junhyung was. And since Hyunseung got himself a nice tall foreign looking boyfriend named Dongwoon Junhyung got more needy than usual. It’s hard finding only a fling at the age of 26. The demon once told him.
It was strange how the demon was obviously way older than him but at the same time he aged like him and shared the same years. Doojoon had no idea how that was possible and he never asked. He preferred thinking of Junhyung as a human being, because no matter how much of a demon the man was, he was once a human and Doojoon believed he was just concealing his emotions to look badass and bratty. After all who would make a deal with a demon that looks and acts like any other human?
The man opened the bathroom, peeking in at Yoseob’s form who was shampooing his hair and he smiled. Yoseob had died his hair a warm light chocolate color, but when his hair got wet it returned to that shade when it’s near black and Doojoon loved that one the most, since it gave the other that young boyish look and it brought back memories to him of when Yoseob was a little bubbly kid who loved to sing and play.
“Mind if I join?” Doojoon asked as he fully entered and closed the door behind him, taking his shirt off, even without waiting for permission.
“I’m going to be late, Doo.” The younger male whined and at that Doojoon chuckled, taking his bottoms off and getting in the shower behind the younger. Doojoon sensed as his boyfriend stiffened, especially the way Yoseob discreetly dodged any contact with Doojoon when the older reached for the shampoo that was before them.
“I won’t do anything.” He said his voice low and started his own washing ritual a little disappointed at the way Yoseob relaxed.
In the aspect of friendship Yoseob and Doojoon still had everything going perfectly well, though that didn’t really count on the aspect of being lovers. By now Doojoon was sure that his boyfriend was cheating on him with Gi Kwang, especially by the way Yoseob flinched around Doojoon’s touches after the petite boy spent his whole day with his colleague and got home late.
And… just knew. He knew by the way Yoseob responded to him, to his advances; by the way the younger bit his lower lip while getting a text; by the way Yoseob’s goofy smile while he’s on the phone would fade the moment Doojoon gets home. And he knew that his boyfriend’s lover was Gi Kwang by the way the buffed boy looked at Yoseob; by the way he tried making ‘accidental’ touches with Yoseob. Doojoon just knew but he played dumb. He was selfish.
“Let me wash your back.” He said playfully, snatching the sponge from his boyfriend’s hands and scrubbing the petite male’s back.
“Rinse your hair first.” Yoseob said, trying to get away, but Doojoon squeezed the younger’s shoulders, making him still.
“You’re the one being late.” Doojoon reasoned. Even though he knew that Yoseob was just late to meeting Gi Kwang an hour earlier. He knew the nursery opened at 9am and he knew that both of the nursery teachers had to be there by 8:30am, so Yoseob had plenty of time, since it was barely 6:30am. The taller male sighed (making sure Yoseob won’t notice) as he saw the hickey on Yoseob’s back, on the spine between his shoulder blades. He doubted Yoseob knew about it, because if he knew he was going to kick Doojoon out of the shower, which meant that Gi Kwang got more daring. It was about time for the smiley boy to get tired of it actually. And he decided made sure that Doojoon would notice that his beloved boyfriend was no longer his, though Gi Kwang had no idea that Doojoon knew from the beginning and he obviously didn’t care. He was selfish after all.
A little after Yoseob rinsed himself and before the boy got out of the shower, Doojoon wrapped his hands around him and leaned down; biting the back of the younger’s neck, a little above the other hickey as to make Gi Kwang aware of his knowledge, which reacted in making a whiny Yoseob in his hold. Doojoon then released him smirking and earning a pout from the boy with “You’re unbelievable.” Before Yoseob dashed out to get dressed and head out.
Doojoon giggled at that and continued showering. He wasn’t in a rush so he took his time and he was not really surprised when a certain demon got in twenty minutes later and took his shirt off, throwing it on the floor and walking towards him.
“Did Yoseob leave?” he asked as he watched Junhyung’s predatory look while he joined Doojoon under the water, still wearing his jeans.
“I’m not that cruel to do something while he’s able to catch on us.” Junhyung responded threading his fingers in Doojoon’s wet hair.
“You gave me a blowjob on the Christmas party while he was outside the stall we were in.” Doojoon hissed when Junhyung pressed his body closer and lightly bit the taller one’s neck.
“He didn’t catch us, did he?” Junhyung smirked and kissed Doojoon fiercely pinning him to the tiled wall. “Now, since you denied me that quickie earlier I’m going to take my time.” The demon informed as he traced Doojoon’s lips with his tongue.
“Oh, please do.” Doojoon chuckled and claimed the other’s lips, fingers hooking in the waistband of Junhyung’s jeans. “These will be a pain to get off.” He grunted, noting the wet material clinging to the skin, and heard Junhyung’s hearty laugher. He was going to take his time all right.
Doojoon was lying in bed with Junhyung’s back pressed to his chest, and his hands securely holding the other’s body to his own. He was thankful to no one particularly for making today their rest day (never mind the load of work they had to finish at home) only because of this moment. He was not going to lie to himself; it’s not like he didn’t figure it a few months back (ten to be precise); he loved Junhyung. He did love Yoseob too, but somewhere along the way he figured that his love for the younger male was that one first childish love that it’s not as strong as the love but still strong enough and real to make him want to spend the rest of his time with his current boyfriend. But the love he felt for Junhyung was really that love one experience once in his life. The one you can and can’t without. The love that is still there when you’re so angry at the other you want to slice him in two and the love that makes you lose all your senses just from a smile. The love that makes you long for the person no matter where you are and who you are with. With Yoseob it was not like that. He would miss the younger, he would miss him a lot, but he never really longed for him. He never really wished it was Yoseob he was holding while being with Junhyung and it was totally the opposite the other way around. Doojoon was really mad at himself for taking so much time to notice this, but at least he did before he was taken to hell.
“What’s it like down there?” he asked, sure that the demon was just lazing around and not sleeping in his arms.
“Like here…” Junhyung murmured intertwining their fingers. “With more blood, and cruelty, and odd jobs, the sky is red, the sun is red, and the moon is red. It’s freaking hot. But it’s like here.” Doojoon laughed at that and rested his head on his hand, Junhyung turning to lie on his back and stare at him.
“How is that anything like here?” he asked, getting Junhyung’s fringe away from his eyes.
“All the demons were once humans, so everything down there is like here. An exact same building like this one exists there too. The cars are the same, but everything is grimmer in color.” Junhyung shrugged while answering with no real reason to do it and scrunched his nose at the other. “Do you regret it?”
“No.” Doojoon answered on the moment. He didn’t regret it. Not when he knew that Junhyung was there. He was not sure if the other will be next to him, but all Doojoon needed to know is that Junhyung was there. The demon laughed at him and pushed him away, sitting up and looking around.
“Your shirt is in the bathroom.” Doojoon informed him, knowing what the other was looking for.
“You plan on releasing Yoseob before the time ticks away, right?” the demon asked as he got up and stole one of Doojoon’s T-shirts lying discarded on the floor.
“A month before it.” Doojoon answered while crossing his legs Indian style.
“Do you still love him?” Doojoon was looking lovingly at the figure putting on his sweatpants while back facing him when the question was answered with a smile.
“Yea, I do.” And he really still did. Not in the way he loved the being before him, but he did. Junhyung turned around smiling and throwing a shirt at the still naked male.
“Get dressed; we still have work to do.” He said lightly before exiting the room.
Doojoon got dressed and went to the living room, finding Junhyung sitting on the couch with a stack of papers in his hand and even more spread on the tea table, waiting for Doojoon to organize and calculate them. He took the image of the focused demon and smiled, walking to him and giving him a small peck on the cheek, making Junhyung raise his eyebrow in wonder.
“You look good in my clothes.”
“Drown in the view before my clothes dry up.” Junhyung said seductively tracing a finger on Doojoon’s cheek. The taller male only smiled at that and got his share of documents.
Doojoon was going to let Yoseob go a month before their ten years anniversary, but he wondered when he should tell Junhyung what he feels.
Nine Years and Fifty-One Weeks Later
Doojoon woke up in their bed and with a body, sleeping peacefully, trapped in his arms. He smiled lazily and pulled the body closer, nuzzling his nose in the other’s neck. The other only grunted and tried to shoo him off, but that made Doojoon only giggle and want to tease the body in his hands.
“Wake up.” He whispered in the other’s ear, lightly biting the earlobe.
“Let me sleep, Doojoon.” Junhyung grunted and elbowed the taller male.
“No, get up.” Doojoon insisted and poked the demon in the ribs. “I want breakfast.”
“You’re such a pest since you quit your job!” the demon grunted and sat up at the edge of the bed, leaning down to get his shirt on. He then ruffled his hair and turned around glaring at the still lying man. “I’m not your housewife. Nor am I Yoseob.” the demon said bitterly and stood up, storming out of the room.
Doojoon knew that. He knew, but he wished Junhyung is what Yoseob was. He wished he would take his place; though it was kind of late for that. The male stood up and got dressed then he made their bed and after all that he headed to the kitchen, knowing that despite everything Junhyung would still at least make them eggs.
It has been almost a month. Almost a month since Doojoon waited for Yoseob to come home and made him sit on the couch, talking to him with a smile and even tone, explaining to him; telling him that he knew about Gi Kwang, that he knew the younger still loved him, but that he just knew that Yoseob loved Gi Kwang more. He told him that he didn’t mind, because he really loved him too, but just like the younger male Doojoon loved someone else more too. He told him that he understands and he didn’t mind and he told him that Yoseob is free to go to Gi Kwang; that he should go to him. At the end both of them cried, they hugged, like two friends would, Doojoon helped Yoseob get some of his clothes and pack them and then he sent his 10 years long lover to another man’s arms.
And both of them wished each other to be happy.
Later it just so turned out that Doojoon stayed at Junhyung’s place. Every night. The male would go to his apartment in the morning to change his clothes sometimes, sometimes he would put Junhyung’s, sometimes he would have his own change but he stayed every night at this apartment, sleeping in this bed with Junhyung in his arms. He loved it, but he wanted more.
Doojoon entered the kitchen finding Junhyung with his hand in his hair and eyes fixed on the frying pan - making eggs like Doojoon just knew he would. He walked to him and wrapped his hands around his waist, leaning his chin on the other’s shoulder.
“Get lost.” Junhyung growled and tried to shove him away, but instead of getting lost Doojoon tightened his hug. He removed the pan from the fire and then stepped back, so he would lean on the counter behind them; turning Junhyung around so they would face each other. Junhyung only sighed and crossed his arms on his chest, while Doojoon’s were around his waist.
“Do you hate the idea of being like Yoseob?” Doojoon asked, peering at Junhyung, taking in every move the muscles on Junhyung’s face did. The demon blinked twice, took a deep breath and raised an eyebrow, tilting his head to the side.
“What?” at the question Doojoon exhaled, looking down as his own hands travelled from the back of Junhyung’s waist to the side of it, thumbs tracing the demon’s hip bones. He knew today is their last day; Junhyung told him; so what was there to lose. He had to tell him. He needed to. “Of course I would hate the idea of being like him, idiot.” Junhyung whispered and his hands traveled from his chest to Doojoon’s biceps. “How do you see me being tied to someone I don’t really love for ten years?”
“I didn’t mean that.” Doojoon whispered closing his eyes and exhaling.
“I know.” Junhyung said, leaning his forehead on Doojoon’s.
Later that day Doojoon was coming back from the supermarket; eggs, milk, vegetables, ice cream and what not in hand. He was checking his phone for new messages and he was glad he got one from Yoseob, telling him the younger is doing well and that he’s happy. Doojoon replied him back, saying that he’s happy for him and to not lose his smile, because that’s what he loved the most and that he always will, no matter what. He thanked him for being his best friend too. He sent the message and pocketed his phone, looking forward.
He saw him. He would be blind not to. The man with the hood coming low on his eyes, the mask that most people wore during this season, the knife glistering in the night. He saw him. So when they were a step away from each other he closed his eyes and welcomed it; he welcomed the sharp blade that pierced him, he welcomed the pain that came when the blade was twisted inside of him. He welcomed them because he knew they would come. He knew for ten years now. So all he could do was smile when the person who stabbed him supported his body to the ground.
“See you in hell.” He barely choked out as he saw the eyes of his murderer and closed his own as he felt the life leaving him.
Doojoon could swear the day he died it started raining, because Junhyung never cried.
