When we moved in here, the landlord told us he was going to fix the falling tub liner in our bathroom between the day we signed on our lease and the day we moved in.
He never did. We had to tape the liner up with gaff tape.
A month into living here, the bathtub stopped draining. I mean, standing-water-stopped-draining. We called him. He didn't call back. We called again. This time, he sent a plumber within a week. Ok. Great.
In December, we informed him of our wish to take the downstairs flat ASAP. He said he wanted to repaint it. Great. January, February, no sign of him. In March we got a hold of him again to inquire about the downstairs flat. "By April 1st" he said he'd be ready. He never showed up to do anything, nor did he contact us. He showed up around April 8th and said he'd have it ready by April 12. Then he didn't contact us for a week. He showed up sometime after April 12 to say we could move stuff in around the 18th, he'd just give us a key. He never came back to give us a key.
Also in March, our bathroom sink stopped draining. All those times we talked to him about moving downstairs, we mentioned the sink. He kept saying he'd send someone. It's now April 25 and there's still standing water in that sink.
It rained last night, and now, the attic is soaked with water and our ceiling is leaking into our hallway. I just left him a message:
"Hi ____, this is Jenny calling from the duplex. We have a serious leakage problem. The attic has standing water soaking through floorboards and leaking into our flat. We've got buckets around, but it's supposed to rain more today. Also, our sink STILL isn't fixed. We're fed up. You've said you'd send someone to fix that over a month ago and that hasn't happened. Please call me at ______".
I intend to call at least 2 more times today. Then we will be looking for new apartments and putting in our 60 days notice. WTF?!

UPDATE 8:06am:
The landlord came right on over and took a look at the attic and is sending "a big guy" later today. He also offered profuse apologies. He claims he will return this afternoon with keys and we can move downstairs this weekend as well.
