Beowulf

A fairly interesting interview about the Beowulf movie.

Gaiman & Avary (the writers) say some intelligent things (or at least standard academic viewpoints) about Beowulf & what they did to the story, which could end up being kind of cool. There are also some stupid things, like a question about Vikings & Anthony Hopkins talking about using a Welsh accent for Hrothgar (wtf?). Apparently Grendel only speaks in Old English, and his mother speaks in both Old & Modern English. So I think I'm hopeful because the writers seem to know what they're talking about, but wary, as you probably should be with any modern treatment of a medieval work.
