Fan Gatherings and Happenings
In November, a group of sv fangirls gathered together for Slumber Party 2005, in Vancouver and Seattle after last year's successful gathering in New York City. To read more about the long weekend, see

Meta Posts
For an interesting essay and discussion about possible misogynistic elements in Slash Fiction, read
fromward's provocative post
Slash and Misogny and Other Things Don't Miss These Posts
puppetoflove will make you snarf with her hilarious Smallville
Death Watch Poll. Just who has Jor-El doomed? You can take a guess, choose the way they'll meet their untimely death and if and what the typical (atypical?) WB plot twist will be.
Also, it must be mentioned,
oxoniensis has once again provided some exquisite episode screencaps, this time for
Lexmas. The quality of her caps and the timeliness of their posting are so amazing. She spoils us all! Make sure you thank her when you download the zips!
Episode Review Roundup
Here be the Lexmas roundup.
For an eloquent and intellectually engaging summary see
bop_radar's
review, which investigates the dynamics between Clark and Lex's future personas, how the imagery of Lex and Lillian gives us a key to understanding the Luthors, the nature of Lexian desires fullfilled in the episode and more.
For some cleverly posed questions (ie: "What's up with Lillian, aka brother-murdering spirit guide, showing Lex a depressing happy future?") and in-depth conversation about the episode, see
rivkat's
post.
For a brief character study of Lillian Luthor and her workings in this episode (including some speculation on Lex's relations with other women in his life), see
serrico's
summary.
And lastly, to just laugh your ass off (if this episode has left you despairing) see
crossbow1's hilarious take on Lex's fall from grace:
rrrrrrrrrecap! Remember, when new episodes air,
sv_live opens for discussion. It's a great place to meet weekly and enjoy the show with fellow fans!
LJ Announcements
Some brief announcements: To find a plethora of Christmas Wishlists, please see the website
Spread the Cheer and
fromward's post
Christmas Wishlist Meme.
Also,
dingoggrl, with help from
elsmoka, has imaginatively created the community
fandom_treelot, a place where girls can post their own or their friend's wishlists under a gorgeous christmas tree. It's a beautiful comm. and a great idea. Please check it out!
Betrue has created a new manip and arts community called
beetarty. I think it's open for public viewing right now, but it won't be for long! If you want to keep seeing her stunning works, remember to join up!
Fan and Resource Profile
Though both
amandajane5 and
Kwerkee are multi-faceted ljers, they often attract new and old fans alike with their sv-star related coverage and postings. It's well known that if *anything* is happening with Michael Rosenbaum and his career,
Kwerkee will provide comprehensive news links and squee-worthy pictures to indulge any giddy fangirl.
amandajane5, whose journal background is a collage of gorgeous Tom Welling faces, often offers up a nearly regular Welling picspam, which appears on one's flist like a cup of warm cocoa on a chilly day: sweet and hot and always appreciated. Both are great resources for the SV-star deprived.
Thanks for reading! Please check back for new editions in the coming weeks.
