Hola from Barcelona!

Hola! Just a little update...

My family and I began our trip in Amsterdam. It was unusual
to experience Amsterdam with my parents. We went all
over...not exactally your typical family vacation. We toured
the city and did some cultural things as well. We went to
the Ann Frank house and saw some really pretty windmills.

From Amsterdam, we took a train down to Pamploma, Spain. We
had a little lay over in Paris, but we are planning to spend
more time there at the end of our trip. Pamploma was the
craziest city that I have ever witnessed. The whole city
wears red and white and celebrates running with the bulls for
a week. Only men are allowed to run with the bulls and the
event occurs every morning. On Saturday, over 50 some people
were injured. After the running, there are feistas all day
and night. Around dusk, they have bull fights where the
bulls that ran are killed. It seems inhumane, but is a huge
part of the culture. At night, there are tons of bands and
fireworks. No one sleeps during the festivities and if your
white clothes are clean, they will pour red wine all over
you. Clean clothes=not good in Pamploma. If anyone is
interested, my brother and I are making reservations for 2007-
-for the whole week! We already found a good hotel!

After Pamplona, we left for Barcelona. We spent some time at
a topless beach...once again, it was a different type of
experience with my whole family there. We all just
watched...no worries, we did not participate. We toured the
city and will be leaving for Rome later today.

After Rome, we are going to be in Macerata for a few days
(where I studied abroad in 2003). Some time before the 23rd,
we are going to make our way around France and up to Paris.

Hope everyone is having a good summer! I miss you all!
Ciao!
Suzy
