Subject: Offensive National Organization for Marriage ads
Link to a_respite's journal entry on the subject: Letter to FFN from respitechristopher. He got the brunt of NOM's ads on fanfiction.net, in the NY/NJ area. I'm sending this letter to the admins of the site to let them know where I stand on this matter.
(if you post on fanfiction.net and feel compelled to reply to this, by all means, do so! Boycott or respond. I feel this is abhorrent, and really, these ads don't have any place on a site like that.)
It has come to my attention that several ads for the National Organization for Marriage have appeared on your website, at least on a regional level. For me, as a supporter of equal rights among all U.S. citizens, allowing NOM to have a platform on which to spread its views promoting hate and inequality against same-sex relationships is wrong and abhorrent. There are a number of GLBT writers on this site, as well as writers, like myself, who read and write slash fanfiction in various fandoms; I can imagine I'm not alone in feeling like this.
I ask you to remedy this situation. Until you do, I cannot use the service/site you provide. Thank you.
