As many of you know, I work at a small scientific publishing house. My primary responsibility is to prep, proof, and post the final online files for all of our (48) journals. Today was the new year rush. Four journals to post in one day. Thud now. Thought y'all might like to hear about the interesting things I found.

While proofing the Annual Review of Physical Chemistry today I learned that an attosecond is a unit of time where 1 = 10-18 seconds. (that's a quintillionth of a second.) Wikipedia informs me that "1 attosecond is the time it takes for light to travel the length of three hydrogen atoms."

Science... is awesome.

Well, that was interesting. I just finished posting what I think may be the most interesting chapter of the Annual Review of Entomology ever. Kind of disturbing, but certainly interesting.

May Berenbaum, the editor for the Annual Review of Entomology, apparently hosts an Insect Fear Film Festival annually at the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign). The next one is in February 2009 - theme undecided.
