Ahhh... I haven't updated for a while. today was a good day. Finished the DCE rough draft (at 2:00... I thought I wasn't gonna get any sleep) So now that thing's off my back. Feels SO GOOD!!! No tennis match or practice tomorrow or Friday :) more time in the afternoon =D And I went to tennis clinic today, which was a million times better than practice. Practice... just isn't fun. And we don't drill enough. So it's hard to improve there, and it's not like i'm having a great time either. But craig does both =D oh yeah and i won 4-1 today so I'm happy. Especially considering the other girl was better than me, except she kept hitting the ball into the net.
Which reminds me of what Alex W. told me on Monday.
I've played Alex before, but he has been playing very below his level during matches. Anyway, he was telling me how he figured out what he needed to do. He kept worrying about winning and not letting down his partner and the team and stuff like that. Well, when you're thinking about things like that, you're not thinking enough about hitting the ball. So he was telling me that we (the whole team) needed to stop worrying at winning the point and instead on just playing good tennis, on hitting good shots. which makes sense. I can kill the ball very well during practice sometimes... but when we actually play matches. Uhm... yeahh... sometimes I can't even return the ball over the next 4 times in a row.
So back to today. She just had to warm up one serve and I knew she would probably win. So I didn't feel any pressure on me while playing, cuz I was already thinking it probably wouldn't go too well for me. But she hit about 75% of the balls into the net. (that sucks... because I don't have to do anything and I get the point. you should at least try to make them beat you instead of giving away points) And I knew she was better than that from the playing wiht her earlier during clinic. But hey... I don't know, she must have gotten too concerned about having to beat me and so she couldn't concentrate on the simple things. Like lifting the ball. So the moral of this random story is to keep sight of the present. Sure, thhinking about what you're going to do during the future and what you need to do is good, but you gotta focus your attention on what you gotta do. Whether it's hitting the ball, finishing the DCE, or writing testimonies. :] i'm getting baptized this Sunday... these past few weeks have been very strengthening. THinking about how much I've changed, thinking about where my life was at the beginning of 12th grade, and where it is now. wow.
Have a good rest of the week =)
