It started innocently after Hankyung picked up his cell phone late at night, laying his body on bed. “Hello?” he answered, almost whispering. His girlfriend was next room and he didn’t want her to hear. Her’s questions sometimes are too much to handle, even simple curiosity.
The person on line wasn’t talking for good two minutes until after a few “hello” Hankyung finally decide to hang up. What he is going to do if person isn’t even speaking?
“Hankyung… is that you?” He finally heard a soft voice, deadly familiar to his ears. At first he didn’t even understood who that person is until he spoke again. “Are you still here?”
This time it hit him. Leeteuk…
“Leeteuk?” He started almost afraid from what kind of answer he’ll hear.
He heard a chuckle and then a positive answer, “yes,“ what almost made him to fall off the bed, after he started to roll around it out of nervousness.
“It does have been so long.” he could only hold the cell phone very tight and wish that it wouldn’t disappear or slip away. A strange wave of warmness washed over him, something deep inside felt right again. Why? No idea, yet, but he wanted to find out and not only that.
“It has. How… how have you been?”
“I could lie and say- I’m fine. You wouldn’t find out if it’s true or not, anyway, but I’m not going to do that.”
“Why are you whispering?” his voice was louder and more confident already.
“My girl…” he felt his words simply dying somewhere in his throat, “…she is in the next room.”
“Oh…” he managed to sense something like disappoint slipping through this one word. Could it be…?
Hankyung shook away his own hopeful thoughts, he has someone by his side and it’s not like something is going to happen after this talk. He may only be curious about his being. “Umm… and how you’re going?”
“I? Oh, I’m simply perfect and right now I have a lot of free time, so it’s fun.” For first time after so long he heard LeeTeuk’s happy voice. How come he didn’t notice before how he missed that?
Hankyung stared at ceiling merely smiling. How come there are so many thoughts and memories washing over him? They promised to never meet or talk again, but it wasn’t that long ago. Maybe there is still some spark left. What’s the reason behind his call? He wondered further.
“I wish you to relax, then.”
“Thanks… “
There was a brief silence before LeeTeuk spoke again, “I’ll hang up, then.”
“Wait, why were you calling me so late?” Hankyung sit up, speaking in louder voice than he indented to, after noticing that Leeteuk is ready to hang up for real.
“I dreamt about you last night.”
“Let’s go. Please.” His girlfriend wasn’t a person who would give up so easily, really, she has a lot of ideas how to persuade people to do what she wants.
“I have a work to do.”
Hankyung pointed at papers that lied on table in front of him.
“You could do that later.” She pouted; crossing her’s arms on her’s chest and intensely gazed at him.
“Umm… okay. We’re going.” Hankyung decided. It won’t do any good to if he tries to argue now. They haven’t been anywhere for weeks already.
“Yay.” She dashed out of the room to get her’s bag and some other things.
“You ready?” he waited her next to outdoor soon after and she nodded, with a smile on face, walking out of their apartment out first.
Almost an hour after he found himself in a crowded cinema, standing a row to get tickets to one of late movies. He kept patiently waiting with her, keeping his hand around her’s waist to show some affection what he has been lacking towards her lately.
They get through all the waiting, but it was time near the start of the movie and she didn’t want to be late. “Let’s move.”
“Wait, I want some snacks.” Hankyung didn’t rush anywhere.
“I have some.” She continued to talk, but Hankyung paid no attention after he saw a familiar figure. Thin with pretty long brown hair and clothes that seemed too big for him. Hankyung had nothing to do catch his attention, because he already had it and that person froze.
Leeteuk...
He watched him the most adorable way, making his eyes very big and curious, and cute and-he waved with his hand, making it more obvious that it’s Hankyung he is looking at.
It’s the first time after so long Hankyung sees him. But it’s no fun when his girlfriend is pulling him by wrist, already, blabbering non-stop and people is passing, too much to see his face clearly. He is gone seconds later and Hankyung feels a bit sad.
“What’s with you?” his girlfriend blocks his view with her’s body and their eyes meet.
“Oh, it’s nothing. Let’s go.” He smiles and takes her hand, going the opposite direction than he saw Leeteuk.
Next week he wondered a lot and most of all about Leeteuk. It wasn’t like he forgot about his girlfriend, and it gave him some thoughts and made regret a few things.
He saw Leeteuk almost a week later, face to face, when there is no one to disturb. Back then he was surprised, the moment he turned around, to see Leeteuk sitting besides the same table he is used to.
“Long time no see.” Leeteuk greeted him over friendly as Hankyung took a seat across him.
“I won’t say so.” he felt the gap like it’s something big not a simple table. Leeteuk was far in his eyes. He don’t know how and when to ask things he wanted.
“You seem a bit distant.” Hankyung looked up from his cup seconds later unsure about what he should say. “Is our meeting that unwanted?”
“No. Not at all.” Hankyung didn’t want him to misunderstand.
“Then tell me how is your life going?” he asks and settles for listening. Hankyung believe that he does wants to listen what he has to say. Hankyung ends up talking about his work, says a bit about friends and his girlfriend he mentions as the last.
“Are you happy?” Leeteuk shifts and places the empty cup besides him, seemingly focused on doing that.
“Maybe. And you?”
“We are talking about you now.”
“But I know nothing about how you are. And why are you trying to reach me?"
“Then I’ll ask one last thing.”
“I’m listening.”
“Do we are really over?”
They kissed, hiding in a dark corner of a small street, struggling to keep their balance after Hankyung attacked LeeTeuk’s lips another time, thirsty to feel him.
“Why are you doing this?”
“Why? You never wanted to know, I thought.”
“I want, I really want.” His mouth wandered on LeeTeuk’s neck, barely touching it, giving strange shivers down his spin.
“There is something that attracts me to you, still.” His whisper disappear in the air and hands held Hankyung by waist tight, so tight as if he is afraid that he will disappear every second.
“We promised-“
“I know,” Leeteuk cut him off quickly. “But I don’t want to leave.”
“It’s not for good.”
“What was in the first place, then?” Leeteuk asked directly, almost casually but his eyes betrayed his real feelings. Hankyung sighed slightly.
“I don’t know.”
"You still have girlfriend."
"I know."
"Will you--"
"I will. Someday."
"Then it's called cheating."
"I know but--"
"Let's meet later, then."
They didn’t stop to meet each other secretly. Hankyung was more than glad to see him around and touch like he used to long time ago.
“I can’t stay away.” Leeteuk stated, after Hankyung asked something about his reasons, snuggling beside Hankyung. Soon again he’ll need to leave and things wouldn’t be that great like now.
Hankyung merely smiled and squeezed LeeTeuk’s hand. He had been thinking and, yet hasn’t come up with any good result. “How did it change like that?”
“I don’t know.” Leeteuk was the tired one here and he closed his eyes, resting his head on Hankyung’s chest. It felt good and he could only hold on this feeling. He heard Hankyung’s heartbeats matching with his own.
“And that fast?” Hankyung slightly ruffled LeeTeuk’s hair and hold him tight as if he’ll never leave.
“I guess we never really moved on.”
