Girl's first

Mar 10, 2012 22:06

After starting formal piano training at the beginning of the year, today is the Girl's first masterclass. In the last 2 months of training, the Girl had been doing very smoothly. At least, whatever her teacher teaches, she had been able to understand and was able to deliver up to 80%. Her journey so far had been comfortable.

With 2 kids in the same system, it's not difficult for me to realize that the teacher really teaches according to the student's ability. Instead of pushing all at the same pace, in order to meet the school's target. That's good.

Anyway, back to the masterclass. Girl had been looking forward to this session. Not because she enjoys being in the limelight (at least we didn't know whether she does or not, before this first session), but because she couldn't wait to wear her beautiful dress (thank you, Auntie HY). Ha, vain-pot!

Happy, happy girl!

After the masterclass, I asked if she was scared of performing onstage. She replied, "No. Just a little nervous." Good, good, she was very aware of her feelings. Well, we were all glad to find out that she does feel comfortable and enjoys performing onstage. If not, we'll definitely say bye-bye to this school.

Celebratory night snack.

Last year after the Boy's first masterclass, we went McDonald's for a celebratory night snack. So how can we not do so after the Girl's first?

During the night snack, I pointed out to the kids that one key reason why the Girl did well for this masterclass (1 of the 5, out of 21 kids, who gotten an A grade and the Principal asked her, and 1 other girl, out to perform again) is because of her brother. I made the proud Girl acknowledged that and to say thank you to her brother. The proud Girl refused initially and even made fun by saying that I told her to "ignore", instead of "acknowledge". We all knew that she understood that her Gor-gor played a huge role in her gaining her A, but she was too proud to admit. After sometime, she lowered her pride and thanked her brother genuinely.

I gave credit to the Boy, who had it a lot more harder than the Girl. He had it harder because he is the first one to go through the system. We are all new and ignorant to the system. And are still figuring out the best way to benefit most from this system.

So, thank you very much, my dear Boy!
