The Proposal
Onew/Tiffany
Romance, PG- 13, ~1,149w

Tiffany felt like this year was the worst.

Her mother got sick and she’s living not too long so she did her best to spend more time with her now. She got some absences from work because of it, and the next thing she knew, her boss already had warned her she’s going to lose her job if she’s going to keep that one up. Losing her job would also mean more problems for her father to pay all of their bills. Besides, he’s already old, and Tiffany knew it’s going to be a big burden for him. That’s why she’s trying to keep up with her job, she must not lose it or else. But there was this new co- worker from the office and she’s acting all bitchy. Tiffany didn’t want to mind her but she’s really getting in her nerve. Anyone would be pissed off, really, by her. Just imagine the whole day hearing complaints about almost everything directly from her-and also making big issues even out of small things.

The list would just go on, and it’s not doing her any good.

Tiffany sighed heavily as she plumped herself on the nearby bench beside the sidewalk. Facing the street, Tiffany saw a lot of people passing by. She was nearly close on giving up but the thought about different things people would go through-and also thinking that they might be even some who were at worse situation than she’s in-and in some ways it would keep her from losing hope. Everyone has hope anyway, as long as you believe there is.

But those dark thoughts would still haunt her.

“I’m so tired from being a disappointment all the time.” Tiffany muttered, even slouching more at her seat.

“Miyoung,” she heard a (very) familiar voice and she knew immediately that it was him since there was only one man who calls her by the name ‘Miyoung’ now.

“Jinki-oppa,” she called him. Even just by mentioning his name, Tiffany quickly felt relieved and in some ways, happier than her usual state. “Why are you here?”

Onew gave her his usual smile and went to take a seat beside her, “Same question goes for you. What makes you sit on this bench?”

“Hmm. Just tired.”

“I’m tired, too. Let’s ditch our appointments for the afternoon, can we?”

“Haha. Funny. How can a supervisor like you ditch an appointment? Besides, you’re a workaholic and I promise I’ll treat you ice cream if ever you’ll ditch once.” She told him.

“Hmm.. I guess I’ll be having my ice cream now.” Onew announced, wearing a wide grin on his face.

“Eh?”

“Yah, seriously?” Tiffany muttered in surprise as they entered the fancy restaurant. “God, I feel so ugly. You should have told me we’re going in a cozy restaurant so at least I could prepare. I’m just wearing jeans, you know.”

“Eh? But you’re beautiful with anything you wear, Miyoung. There’s no need for you to wear fancy dresses just to look beautiful.” Onew told her as he reached for her hand and locked his hand with it. “So, shall we?”

Tiffany arrived at an open place, with a balcony overlooking through the sea. At the side were musicians, playing some classical music that sounded so good in her ears. At the center laid a table for two, with romantic candles lighted in the middle of the table.

They both went for the table, and Tiffany took her seat-Onew pushing back the chair for her to sit, being the gentleman he normally is.

“I love it here.” Tiffany commented as she sat back.

“Me, too.”

It was a usual date-they talked about things, laughed at Onew’s lame jokes, and even reminisced about the epic memories they have shared.

After a few moments, Onew stood up and asked for a dance.

Tiffany put her hands around his neck as Onew’s hands found its way around her waist. They danced along with the slow music, Tiffany stepping on Onew’s foot every now and then since she was never the good dancer while Onew would just laugh it off, sometimes he would tease her or even pretend that it hurts a lot.

She just looked into his eyes dreamily and Onew would just look down at her, staring back into her eyes. They were perfect, the loveliest couple. They were together for three years now, and they loved each other so much, no doubt.

It was not a wonder when Onew surprisingly knelt in front of her in the middle of their dancing. Tiffany gaped in shock as she witnessed her boyfriend pulling out a ring from his pocket. But almost awkwardly, Onew looked into her eyes and asked the words, “Will you marry me, Miyoung?”

“Eh? Is that even a question? Of course, I will!” Tiffany shrieked out, pulling him up , and gave him a tight hug.

Tiffany had always thought if ever Onew is going to propose. Or if ever they’re already the ones right for each other. Tiffany had even thought how it’s going to feel like-if she’ll feel more on teary or not, those things. But her present situation and problems immediately echoed at the back of her head, haunting her. Her job is in great danger, her debts are getting bigger, and her mental, emotional, and physical health is starting to get weaker. A lot of awful things were happening in her life right now and she remembered this proposal was only the happy thing.

“but…”

Tiffany let go of him slowly this time with a sad look on her face. “But I don’t deserve you, Jinki.”

“Hey, what do you mean? Don’t think that-”

Tiffany immediately cut him off by pushing her pointer finger across his lips.

She sighed heavily before saying, “I.. I am such a disappointment. A lot of bad things happened to me this year. I’m not capable of putting up with your performance. You’re good while I’m not. You’re almost reaching the top while I’m going down day after day. I’m… I’m no good, you know.”

“Hey, that’s not true. Besides, how does it matter with our relationship? There’s no connection at all.” Onew assured her, holding her face by his hands as he stared into her eyes with love and understanding.
“I love you, and only that matters, alright?” he whispered and Miyoung knew he means it.

Tiffany was more than surprised at this. Jinki was too nice that she did not know what to say. There was no other man who can make her feel this way-who can make her feel right despite everything.

He pulled her in for a kiss. It was sweet, Tiffany decided, like their first. It has always been sweet, his kisses. They were never asking for more, just that innocent love they both shared.

“I love you, too.”

Saying Names
Minho/Krystal
Romance, AU, PG- 13, ~1,030w

He touches the ball swiftly and it lands at the other side of the court just as quick as the players of the opposite team were not able to save it. It’s a sunny afternoon, and to mention that the sun is all up and shining so hot not with its usual heat temperature, the players of the opposite team sigh almost in unison as they went back to their position. The girl nearest the ball lazily pushes it forward, pouting afterwards.

“22-17.” Key announces the score boringly as he leans his head on top of his arms already enough for him to see the game. Sitting in the umpire’s position, he also can feel the unusual heat of the sun and every now and then, he wipes his sweat with his face towel. “Oi, Minho. Can you please finish the game quick before the time ends?”

Choi Minho just grins shyly as he takes the ball from the ground. He is the main star of their class, one who does so well in their Physical Education subject.

“I think we’re going to win this game. We can do this!” Sulli cheers for her teammates, her smile also shining so brightly.

On the other hand, Krystal, despite Sulli’s cheerful and loud voice, can barely hear the words. She stands so stiffly as her hands are shaking a little. She has never been good at this, in fact, she’s the one who has been committing the mistakes in the first part of the game-sometimes hitting the ball too strong that it would reach after the line making the other team gain a point, and even just by not being able to receive the ball properly since her hands were too weak and unexperienced with this. She feels like a burden to their group, and even when this is just a practice game for their PE subject, still she could feel the eyes of her groupmates on her, probably cursing at the fact that she’s in the group. Since without her, their group would have been a perfect combination of the ‘players’ in the class.

Krystal steps out of the court, before the line, as she waits for her turn to serve. She looks at the space before her and sees Minho holding the ball in his hand. Her cheeks immediately went hot but it’s because of the weather, I’m sure of it.

“Krystal, here..” Minho throws the ball softly at her, and Krystal swears he just smiled.
Her heart skip a beat because of that though Krystal is inwardly telling herself not to fall for him again because it isn’t right to love someone who already love someone else. And besides, he’s Choi Minho.

“You can do it, Krystal. You should or else our team is going to lose.” Sulli playfully pulls her tongue out at her as she giggles afterwards.

“You’re just making her more nervous even. Her cheeks are all red now.”
Krystal can hear the two of them talking though her eyes are all set now on the ball in front of her. Minho was talking about you earlier. And he noticed your cheeks!

She takes a deep breath before releasing the ball and hitting it with much force. Krystal follows the ball as it lands at the other side of the court. It was, surprisingly, a good serve.

“Nice one.” He comments as he gets the ball from the ground.

“It’s not much of a big deal if he knows your name. Well, he knows my name, too.” Sulli tells her bestfriend as both of them are walking towards their next subject.

Krystal sighs, “And that’s because you two are in the same courses. Besides, the two of you were almost in the same classes last semester.”

“Maybe he recognizes your name since our PE instructor always mentions your name in our PE class.” Sulli adds.

“Maybe..” Krystal agrees, looking at the other direction. She has been secretly crushing Minho since last year, and she never expected that he would know her name. “Well, he’s popular and I am not.” She immediately bit her lip as she accidentally blurted her thoughts out loud.

“Yah, Jung Soojung. I thought you’re going to forget about him. He already has a girlfriend, remember?” Sulli rolls her eyes at her.

“I know, I know. And she’s an unnie, one of the prettiest in the university.”

“Well, to be honest, I didn’t expect Minho will date girls who are older than him.” Sulli whispers at her and giggles.

“But there’s nothing wrong with that, Sulli.”

“Oh, right. There’s none. I wonder how your heart is taking it? Minho having a girlfriend, that is?” Sulli asks seriously this time. “I know you, Krystal.”

“I know.”

“But you should forget about him, already. There are still lots of men in the world.” But he’s the only man in my life.

“Oh, sure. That would be easy.” Lie.

“You were lucky your teammates know how to play volleyball. Our team lost because only I and Luna know how to play it.” Jonghyun complains as they went for their bags after the PEclass.

Minho gets his bottle of water and gulps down almost half of it.

“Well, except for Krystal, that is.” Jonghyun adds as he took a sit beside his friend.

“But she’s pretty good in playing archery.” Minho tells him, putting his bottle back to his bag.

“Oh, she is?” Jonghyun comments nonchalantly and pauses, “You’ve seen her play? But you were never in the same class as she is last semester and last year, right?”

“I’ve seen her play last year.” Minho answers him innocently but Jonghyun is waiting for more, “Well, my PE class was after their class so I used to see her play archery last year.”

“What are you, a stalker?” Jonghyun teases him.

“I’m not a stalker, stupid. I just saw her play.” He told him but Jonghyun just gave him a look, “Why? What’s wrong with that?” Minho asks, raising a brow at his friend.

“Nothing. Yuri’s already here.” Jonghyun tells him as he points at Minho’s girlfriend waving at their direction fifteen meters away from them.

Shakespeare's in Love
Sungmin/Jessica
Romance- Fluff, PG- 13, ~1, 588w, AU

“Aigoo. How can they let love ruin their friendship? That is so unfair.” Jessica commented at the movie she was watching, hugging the pillow in front of her tighter.

Sungmin, who was at the other side of his room, stopped from playing with his computer and looked up at her,

“But you won’t understand, Sica. You were never in love with a friend.”

“Hmm. I don’t care,” the little girl pulled her tongue out, “It’s not that it will ever happen to me anyway. Love is… not for friends. I mean, I love my friends but not that intimate.”

Sungmin acted as if he was about to puke jokingly, “You’re just eight, Sica. How can you know such things?”

“From romantic movies and novels I have read, I suppose.” She replied nonchalantly as she focused herself back to the movie while Sungmin did the same thing, almost cursing as his game character was nearly dying.

“Sungmin..”

“Hm?”

“Let’s promise not to ruin our friendship, alright?” Jessica shyly told him, almost hiding her face under the pillow.

“Okay.” He answered without thinking twice, “We’re best friends since… I don’t know, forever? Thanks to our mothers who were best friends. And it’s not like I’m going to like you. You don’t even like to play hide-and-seek.”

“Ha-ha. It does not connect at all! Anyway, I’m good. I just don’t want our friendship ruined because of that love thing-y.” she stated.

“Errw. Let’s stop with all these love stuff, can we? Disgusting.” Sungmin teased.
Just as Jessica was about to defend herself, the door of Sungmin’s room opened and appeared a young- looking woman.

“Lunch is ready, dears. You better come down before the food becomes cold.” Her mother invited them for lunch, and quickly left after leaving a smile to both.

Sungmin and Jessica stood up and headed for the door in a lazy and forced manner-obviously wanting not to stop what they were currently doing.

Jessica, out of boredom, punched her oppa’s shoulder lightly.

“Aw. What was that for?” Sungmin complained, acting it hurt more than it did.

“Oh, nothing.”

“Mum told me we’re old enough to spend some time in my room.” Sungmin explained to her.

Jessica pouted and crossed her arm, “That is so unfair. I want to watch a movie.”

“You can just watch it in your room.” He suggested, taking a seat beside her and pulled the remote controller from behind, pushing the on button.

“But I have loved watching movies in your room, ever since. Your dvd player has become my best friend.”

“We can just watch a movie and eat some delicious food after to celebrate your eighteenth birthday tomorrow. Your treat, of course.” Sungmin stated happily, looking sideways for a second to give her a knowing look.

“But it’s my birthday. You should be the one to pay for us!” Jessica playfully pulled her tongue.

“Eh? I don’t want to.” Sungmin told her but he knew he’s going to be to pay for it anyway, as always.

“Oh, with this love thing.” Sungmin blurted out, grabbing a handful of chips and swallowing them at the same time.

“Shhh. He’s going to confess his love to his best friend. Sucks.” Jessica whispered, putting her pointer finger on top of his lips.

Sungmin just eyed her in the darkness, and quickly removed her hand from his mouth, “Before you forget, I’m eating.”

“Donghae texted me. He thought we were dating.” Jessica told him after putting her mobile phone back in her pocket, slightly blushing at the thought.

“Eh? Us?” Sungmin just laugher and put his arm around her. “Let’s start dating, then, Sica?”

“Yah..” Jessica even blushed more as he shoved him away, trying her best not to let it show to him though.

Sungmin laughed even louder this time, poking Sica’s cheek, “You’re blushing. Cute. So does it mean you fell in love with your best friend just like in your favorite movie?”

“I know I’m as pretty as the main actress in the movie, “ Jessica complimented her own self, “but I am not stupid like her, you know.”

Sungmin just gave her a teaseful look, “I don’t believe you. You’re starting to like me, neh?”

“No, I am not!” Jessica defended herself, putting both of her clenched hands on her waist, “Besides, we’ve promised not to fall in love with each other.”

“Do you like someone?” Jessica asked him while both were doing their homework in the library.

“Hmm. I like no one else but you.” Sungmin answered quickly, suppressing his laughter.

Jessica just sent daggers at him, “Funny.”

She shook her head and decided it’s going to be hard to know the girl he likes, and continued answering her Calculus assignment instead.

Sungmin stole a glance at her, and studied her, “Why did you ask?”

“Hmm.. just because I’m curious. Just that. And it’s so unfair, you know. I have told you secrets about my crushes but you never told me one.” She answered without looking up. Sungmin used this to study her
features even more, putting his hand under his chin while enjoying her company.

“Hmm. I’ll tell you in time.”

Valentine’s day.
5:30pm, University’s Mini Forest.

“Out of all the places in the university, what the hell were you thinking about meeting up with your ‘crush’ here? And I don’t even have to meet her unless you’re already dating!” Jessica complained, pushing the dried leaves playfully as they walk by.

“But you’ve bugged me about her. You should be happy you’re going to meet her now.” Sungmin told her in a matter- of- fact tone. “Besides, it takes courage, Sica.”

“Courage. Yes, what a strong word, you know. Impressive even.”

“A well?” Jessica asked, surprised.

Sungmin went nearer to the well with a contented (and nervous) look on his face. “In here, Sica.”

“What? You’re telling me she’s in there? Funny, Sungmin. So funny.”

Sungmin said nothing more but just gave her a look.

“Okay. For the sake of twelve long years of friendship, I will meet your crush. I didn’t know you’re craziness has gone this far, Sungmin.” Jessica gave up and started her way towards the well.

“uhm.. don’t rush, okay? You might scare the shit out of her.” Sungmin warned her, laughing.

“Very funny.” Jessica gave him another look before she leaning towards the well slowly, as what he had suggested.

“You could have just told me your types are like that of Sadako, really. I got tired walking.” Jessica mumbled to herself.

She noticed it was old, the well, with moss almost covering the side of it, but the water was pretty clear and it felt so warm. She was already enjoying it when she noticed her reflection in the water.

Jessica was staring right in front of her reflection, and on her side was her best friend, Sungmin, looking nervous now she noticed.

“Uhm.. you’ve seen her?” Sungmin asked nervously when Jessica pulled back. “I like her since, since the day I’ve met her, actually.”

Jessica studied her best friend’s face as he said those words to her. Sungmin, on the other hand, was looking
somewhere else anxiously first before setting his eyes on her. It brought a lump to his throat, and they just stayed like that for a few moments.

“You’re crazy as hell.” Jessica finally whispered.

Then, she left.

“Best friends issues?” Kyuhyun asked him one time.

“Yeah, and as complicated as newly weds issues.” Sungmin told him, sighing after.

“Then, you should talk to her.”

“But she’s mad.”

“She’s going to be mad at you forever because you’re not trying.”

“I thought you like him.” Yuri told her.

“Uhm.. sort of, yes.”

“So, which part where you mad of? The walking towards the old well part?” she asked, laughing softly at the idea.

“Of course, not. Silly. It’s just… it’s just…”

“It’s just because you don’t want to ruin your friendship and you’re scared as cat to confess you like him back.”

“Having fun, kiddos?” Jessica’s mum asked the two of them, arms intertwined with Sungmin’s mother, while the other two walk behind them, not saying a word ever since the fourteenth day of February.

“Yeah, of course.” Sungmin answered with a forced laugh, looking sideways at Sica for a sec and noticed how she looked at the opposite direction, forcing herself to become entertained whatever were in there.

After that, their mums continued on with their talking like nothing happened.

Sungmin knew how awkward it was to act and feel this way. They were best friends ever since they have seen each other. They did hang out together a lot, always do things together.

One second they were as close as the south and north poles of magnets, the next thing they knew , they were already as far and as unreachable as the sky and the sea.

“Still mad?” Sungmin asked.

“Hmm sort of.”

“Which part?”

“Yuri suggested it might probably the ‘walking towards the well’, which is actually a tiring thing, you know.” Sica said, lowering her head. Even until now she didn’t know why the hell she was mad. “I’m sorry for… everything.”

“I’m sorry, too.”

“Friends?” Jessica looked at him this time, shyly setting her eyes on him as she could feel her heart beating so loudly in her ears.

“Of course.” Sungmin answered shortly, staring back at her with eyes sparkling in relief and happiness.

At least, Sungmin was able to prove that love can’t ruin friendship in one way or another.
