Happy new year to all!
Lifes going along ok, still seeing Jess at the moment, somewhat sad that she's however many thousand miles away but I do get to talk to her most mornings and evenings on Skype which is cool as I get to see her face-to-face so to speak and I can wave my project-of-the-moment at her for approval/amusement.
2010 was a long year, some good, some bad but I like to think I came out of it a stronger, more confident person and that I've learned and developed my skills and friendships during it. I've certainly learned who my friends actually are!
So, New Year, new project... The 11 helmets are coming along well but I really want to get something sorted for the Edinburgh Fringe 2011 and Hi-Ex 2012 (Possibly the Furry-con in Inverness 2011 too but hmm...) Thus I'll be focusing on getting the EVA helm sorted first before getting the rest done. Now I ran out of resin yesterday so my resining/fillering is at a bit of a halt this month. I do however have 500 sheets of A4 cardstock in the post to me now and decided I'll spend this month getting the rest of my suit pepped ready, the Shin, one shoulder, two shoulderpads, handplate and the helmet are already done so that saves some work! White Meta suit ahoy...
The 11 helmets sat in various stages of completion (ODST is still in mid-papercutting)
Wee Jess with my old Mk VI helmet sat on her just to give an idea how massive my head actually is, that helmets a fairly tight fit... That helmets now sat on my little brothers shelf, apparently he's rather pleased about that.
Close-up of the new Mk VI. This one should be moulded, hence no real visor yet, the paint was just a tester to see how it looked.
The new EVA made from a 3D model
Suzerain made for me! This is proving the hardest pep I have ever made, it took 4 days to put the 255 pieces together and the visor section will need sanded over and over to make it glass-smooth for the visor making...
Some odds and sods I made, the new shin, EVA, CQB and Scout shoulder-pads and a grenade launcher round from Reach
Close-up of the Reach grenade, I like the idea of belts/bandoliers of these...
Standard handplate, one of the more irritating parts to do as it is tiny at just under 10cm long.
And lastly, I was sent two tiny little cast spartan helmets, each about an inch high, a Mk VI and a CQB so I painted them up for a laugh, the visor is 7 layers of paint and 5 different colours to get the gold right.
