The Crack of Doom and Punch The Jude!

I am back from my short excursion to Blackheath - which in all fairness was a very agreeable weekend and far more eventfull than was originally planned.

The train journey up to Paddington was standable - aside from the unhealthy time in the morning when we had to catch it and the stuffyness of the carriage towards the end - but not as bad as other train journies I have been on.

After a quick coffee and a bite to eat for breakfast, we grabbed the tube - we were originally going to get off at Charing Cross and then figure out how to get to blackheath from there - however for some unknown reason we decided to get off at Elephant & Castle and walk to the train station there, eventing in two tickets to blackheath via a train switch at nunhead. The following day we found out that all we really needed to do was catch a train from Charing Cross and it would have taken us the whole way there - avoiding most of the underground. Oh well - lessons will be learned.

Blackheath itself was so much more nicer than what I expected it to be, and the green - well I think it's the most amount of grass I've ever seen in London aside from the main parks! The hotel was slightly dissapointing. The entrance boasted of inviting luxury and sumptuous decor within - yet when we opened the door to our room it was probably a double equivalent of Harry Potter's broom cupboard. Although an ensuite was more than what he could hope for - small blessings. You can't complain really at the price - £190 for two nights with free breakfast.

Saturday evening saw us pick one of the many restaurants and myself watching in stark amazement when Trevor decided he would breach that untouchable gap and share a bottle of wine with me. Not only was I suprised that he liked it, but the fact that he'd chosen probably the yummiest wine I've had in a while. Yay for Spontinaety. Following a rather delicious meal served by polite smexy Italians, we settled a bar - having forgotten it was the rugby and crammed ourselves in for some sploshing - returning to the hotel pretending to be sober and civilised, whilst laughing at the sudden amusement of the receptionist's ears.

Sunday was spent wandering around London. We found an amazingly convincing Jack Sparrow look-a-like (pictures soon) and visitied parliament and the millenium wheel - landmarks that I'd never laid eyes on before despite having frequented London in the past. >_< Woe.

In a strike of spontaneous decision making we hopped into the Chinese State Circus which happened to be on Blackheath Green that weekend. It wasn't too bad - the acrobatics where impressive, however the Shaolin Warriors seemed somewhat amateurish. Having seen the real Shaolin Monk show - I'm convinced this was the case. Probably the fact that a few of them were almost crippled with laughter in the fight scenes - but I guess there was an amusement factor there somewhere.

And now for the jewel of the weekend. The Tiger Lillies gig. Sold out! I can't believe it. I'm thankful we pre-booked our tickets now. I didn't realise they were so popular! Anyway they done their take on the seven deadly sins, along with a badtaste Punch and Judy show. I think towards the end Trev got a bit carried away and decided to make up song titles when they were asking for any requests because he decided to shout out "Fuck off and Cunts" at which point I tried to become invisible with little success. Thankfully the lillies took it in the stride and replied quaintly that he should do the same, and then plaid our more formal request of "The Crack of Doom", done splendidly to much applause.

All in all an excellent weekend - no arguments - lots of fun, and the decision that in two weeks time we'll book a five star in torquay for a night for our 1 year anniversery. Young relationships - so much fun!
