Okay, so I've known that I would have to have a rhogam shot ever since my husband and I got started seriously dating. And it scared me! I haven't had a shot since I was like 15 years old. My brother's Eagle Project was to organize a blood drive for the neighborhood, and I cried for nearly a week at the very thought of the needle. Yet...I went through with it because it was helping him.
So, since being pregnant, having blood drawn hasn't been such the big deal that it was earlier in my life. But the thought of the shot still scared me. (And seeing the actual needle for the epidural at our Labor & Delivery classes on Tuesday night DIDN'T help at all!) So, I went to the hospital lab yesterday, had my blood drawn, and was told to return within 24 hours for the rhogam. My husband was home from his new job by that time, so I dragged him back with me. He held my hand as the nurse prepared the 2 1/2 inch needle. I held my breath. AND it was over. It felt like the small shock you recieve when placing your tongue on a 9-Volt battery. And I felt like a idiot.
The epidural needle still scares me, though.
