I am the Best Teacher in the World!

Or so my students said today. We made pudding. Chocolate, and butterscotch, and vanilla, and banana cream. Yummy!

Yes, this really does have something to do with math. It's all about Systems of Equations. Can you solve the problem?

Let x = the number of cups of liquid
Let y = the number of cups of powder

Combined they make 15/16 of a cup of yumminess.

The cost per gallon of the liquid is $2.40. (You need to convert to cups, 16 cups = 1 gallon.)

The cost per tablespoon of the powder is $0.05. (You will have to convert from cups to tablespoons. 1 cup = 16 Tablespoons)

The total cost for the amount you are making is $0.2625.

How much of each ingredient do you need?

Now, the recipe makes almost a full cup of pudding. That's way TOO much. So, next time I'll have them share with a neighbor. (And then it won't cost me $50.)

Well, Fall Break Starts NOW!!!!
