Susp's Review: DOTM DARKSTEEL
Deadly Decepticon Darksteel delights in dastardly dissecting!
Vehicle Mode: Darksteel is a retool of Sideswipe. His main colour is dark grey with a translucent red windshield, headlights, and taillights, metallic turquoise deco, metallic silver grille and hubcaps, and a red and white logo. Also a few gold bits visible.
Darksteel’s weapons, which have been retooled from Starscream’s, are dark grey and turquoise. The larger one has a single curved blade while the smaller one has twin curved blades painted orange. Rather crudely, I might add.
Robot Mode: Darksteel is intended to be a homage to BW Quickstrike, and to that end, his robot mode is a striking combination of dark grey, gold, and metallic turquoise. His upper arms, hands, and shins are black and his chest features metallic gold deco. His head, which bears little resemblance to Quickstrike’s, is dark grey with translucent red lightpiping, metallic turquoise vents, and gold fangs.
Darksteel’s weapons fit into his hands well enough, but due to the kibble on his forearms, he wields the combined form awkwardly.
Overall, Susp Sez: Darksteel is a smart retool of a very good toy, and a welcome nod to Beast Wars. A good addition to your Decepticon ranks. 4/5
