Just curious

So, I know that military guys are supposed to take off their hats when they go inside a building. And I think the VMI guys have to take their hats off to girls. But...what if they don't know for sure that you're a girl? There was a person in Zelma's the other day, and Ali, Stina, and I just couldn't tell. Do you take your hat off to be on the safe side? Which is worse, insulting a guy by taking your hat off or insulting a woman by leaving it on? You could probably fight the guy, like if he wanted to make a thing about it. I don't know.

I really only bring this up because I'm listening to a song from Newsies and my absolute favorite part of that movie is this really minor shot where two of the guys are distributing the newsie protest paper at a factory, and these two girls (who are maybe twelve and nine, not much age difference from the guys) answer the door and the guys IMMEDIATELY whip off their hats, like they do it every day, out of habit. It's so cool!

A) Good acting.

B) Good detail work, director guy.

C) I think that policy should be reinstated. I'd LOVE it if a guy, especially meeting me the first time, felt he should show respect and politeness to me by removing his hat, even if it was just for a second.
