Whirlwind day

It’s quite a late post today because it’s been nonstop basically since I went to my interview this morning.

I’ll recap briefly last night, only because I had a rather unique experience at Altar Boyz. As I found out later, Tuesdays are kind of a dead night at the show lately, so when I went to sit down the theatre was rather sparse. And this is even a small off-Broadway theater. The show starts, and I’m on the right side section, and I am seriously the ONLY person sitting there. The center and left are filled someone, but no, I’m the weirdo sitting on the aisle alone. Yay me. But as always the show was fun and everytime the boyz had to do something stage left I got special attention. Afterward I chatted with two of the guys, Zach and Kyle Dean, and they’re were really sweet. So it was nice not to feel so alone and to get to chat with some people. The best part is that I usually get to hear lots of theatre gossip that I usually don’t fully understand but I still enjoy it.

This morning was my second interview. At 9 a.m. I was there early, but it took forever for me to get upstairs and finally meet the girl who was interviewing me. I got my own security tag with my face on it (they had freaky cameras at the security desk) but I was somewhat incapable of using it. But whatever, I eventually got in. The interview was rather short like yesterday, and I think I got it across that I like the magazine and want to work there. Once again, she told me I’d find out before Christmas. Here’s to hoping.

As I walked back from my interview, I got in touch with my friend I met through Altar Boyz who basically knows everything about theatre shows and the actors. My “anonymous friend” as she likes to be called. Heather said she and another friend were doing student rush for the Wedding Singer matinee, so I joined them. We got front row seats for $25. She was initially going to see Kevin Kern as fake Billy Idol, but then we found out he (a fabulous swing for WS and formerly Altar Boyz), was going on as Robbie Hart. I couldn’t have lucked out more, since I’m seeing it again tomorrow night, but it’ll be two very different casts. So we hung out, saw the show and got to chat a bit with Kevin and David Josefsberg, another former Altar Boyz cast member, and some other cast members Heather knew. They’re all really sweet guys. Plus we’re all hopelessly in love with Kevin, he gives great hugs. After that I wandered with Heather and her friend and waited at High Fidelity where they were doing the lotto for tickets. I already have a ticket for Wicked, so I had to miss that. I was in the midst of chatter from all these theater pros and felt confused but it was definitely interesting. Everytime I come here I wish I was much more theater savvy, but I guess it also requires living here and going to shows. Regardless, it was a great to spend the day with a friend and just hang out. And to see a fabulous show, I highly recommend the Wedding Singer, if you can get out here soon, it’s closing by New Year’s I believe.

Now I’m off to prepare for my last interview tomorrow and then head to Wicked. Eep! Today was a crazy day, but so much fun. If I’m here next summer I will just go nuts. I can’t believe my trip is almost over! It’s just not fair. Anyhow, I’m out!
