Wow, I'm seriously impressed - Youngs Chr*stm*s Pudding Ale is one seriously good winter beer. Despite my hatred of the c-word, I happily sampled this on Friday, after some good beer sourcing by davecar, and it was rich, spicy, warming, and with definite hints of coconut and marzipan on the nose & palate, but with a clean rather than cloying finish. Certainly got the weekend off to a good start beer wise.
Braved Borough Market on Sat, which was busy but not onerously so, and managed to get some presents, rewarded by mulled cider :-)
Cov Garden was busy in a less pleasant way, but a stopoff at the Harp and then tea at Wahaca (Mexican cantina style place) made it worthwhile. Mexican 'tapas' were pretty good, and I'd definitely say I'll be dining there again. Not too pricey and good ingredients.
The rest of Saturday evening was spent chilling out in Quinns - nice to have the time to spend a few hours trying out some of Kevin's new beer acquisitions, including a beer from Luxembourg, which was OK but a bit on the bland side. Still, had to be tried.
Today has brought some more winter beer sampling (bottled Fullers London Porter this time) and an entertaining programme about prime numbers before possibly a visit to the Oakdale on my way to Euston.
Rather chilled weekend in general, just what I needed on the run up to the 'festive season', and not a carol or piece of tinsel in sight \o/
