Disney Not Involved with Dawn Treader

Dec 26, 2008 01:13

I'd just like to start a discussion (to spice up the community a bit) about a recent article posted on Surpassing Time by... whomever. (Cheers!)

While declining to elaborate, Disney and Walden Media confirmed Tuesday that for budgetary and logistical reasons the Burbank-based studio is not exercising its option to co-produce and co-finance the next ( Read more... )

But maybe if New Line does produce Dawn Treader, they will get back the fans who left them because of Golden Compass. Plus, Chronicles has a built-in guarantee for success (kind of) since the first two have done so well.

As for the thing with Anna and William, if you notice they didn't mention Skandar and Edmund has a much larger role in DT. I'm betting Anna and William were there for supplemental scenes, like you said.

Plus, when they list movie stars like that they usually list the ones who are "more important" in the media. Like with HSM, they usually only mention Zac Efron or Vanessa Hudgens or Ashley Tisdale but leave out the other actors like Corbin Bleu, Lucas Grabeel and Monique Coleman. It's a screwed up system if you ask me.

Good point about getting back more fans. That is, if New Line cares about us fans. [sniff]

I did notice they left out Skandar, which just.... bah. Leave out Edmund? Blasphemy, I say.

i heard about this yesterday on Narniaweb.com
i was extremely shocked and saddened by how Disney had become.
i kinda wanted WB to partner with Walden for the VDT movie.
or they could try Nickelodeon, LOL! since Nick is the TV adversary of Disney.
hehe!

omg i hadn't noticed they didn't mention skandar! oh, how horrible of me. *facepalm* still, that only makes my excitement deflate a bit-- it could be that they just didn't bother to do their research and so they don't know that will and anna are actually not returning for this movie, like they didn't know skandar is. i hope i'm wrong about this, though-- i would kill for at least a glimpse of will in VoDT.

as far as who they'll partner with, new line is very probable. at least with a narnia flick, since it's a sequel, they're somewhat guaranteed an audience, which is something they didn't have with the golden compass. or maybe it could be done directly with WB, since new line is now part of time warner. if i have to state an opinion, i'd rather have WB directly instead of WB through new line.

i don't know about FOX. it could happen, but i just don't think it would fit. then again, that's hardly an objective reason to reject an investing partner xDDD

My first thought was New Line as well, since they had such great success with the Lord of the Rings... but then they had problems and merged with WB, so I'm not sure what to think. New Line/WB are still involved with The Hobbit, so they're hopefully still open to that sort of fantasy. The Golden Compass was just a really bad adaptation, and it doesn't mean people are no longer interested in fantasy films... >_>

Whatever happens, VotDT better not get ditched, since it is kind of guaranteed to have an audience, and it has so much potential for being an amazing movie. :\ Silly Disney.

I'm worried about Skandar not being mentioned, since Edmund is important in VotDT, but I'm hoping they just neglected to mention him. I'd also love for Anna and Will to return, even in small roles. :)

If they ditch VotDT I will...I don't know what I'll do. Exercise my Jedi powers to MAKE them (well, someone) finance it because I WANT to see this movie! I've been eagerly awaiting it since I saw PC... The movies are so well done I would hate to see them grind to a halt after only 2 installments :(

And I too noticed that they didn't mention Skandar -- gah!! But I'm sure he'll be included...Edmund is kind of key in the book, n'est ce pas?
