i am in france. it is nice here. the roses are still out and the garden smells like summer. my relief at being out of england is indescribable. on arrival we had a long train journey down from limoges and i had glimpses of my first french autumn, i also saw chickens and mini waterfalls and old railway stations with wonderful wrought iron insignia and a little boy leaning over his gate to smile at the passing trains. there is a cat here but she hates us and lets out little injured meows whenever i approach her, her name is fanny and because she is an american cat i have nicknamed her 'fannie mae' even though that isn't witty and i don't know what fannie mae is. i have been awake for a very long time.
