The pool where I swim has two lanes marked off in the mornings - designated the 'fast' lane and the 'slow' lane. People self-select which lane they're going to use. ... ok, forgive me, but I only do this once a year. Call it my 'Spring Collection' if you will.

It's really difficult (and expensive) to get swimwear that fits my bust, so buying a swimsuit is another once-a-year event. And I absolutely refuse to buy anything in boring black.

Mr Gorgeous was in the pool again this morning. *sigh* It certainly helps to have something interesting to look at while you're exercising. I think my Saturday swim is going to be a regular thing from now on. I kicked my swimming distance up to 2km this morning. It took me about an hour and a half and my arms felt like jelly afterwards, but that's OK - I felt like that after 1.5km a few weeks ago.

However note to self: Start earlier, because fighting through the kiddies in the shallow end after the lanes were removed on length 54 (of 60) was NOT fun.

I've taken the plunge (as it were) and signed up for Swimathon 2009 in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Swimathon Foundation.

So on 18th April I'll be swimming 1.5km - that's 45 lengths of my local 33m pool. I have a whole 12 weeks to get in shape *eep!* This morning I swam 20 lengths (660m) - and now I can't raise my arms above my head.

I've been swimming again this morning - I felt so good after 20 lengths that I did another 5. I've just confirmed that my local pool is in fact 33.3 metres long rather than the usual 25 or 50, which means I swam over 800 metres (which used to be my standard daily swimming distance). It also explains why my length time is over a minute.
