1. my computer sucks. someone wonderful put up the latest episode of Atlantis up on yousendit and my computer refuses to download it. This sucks. This sucks a lot. I was already looking forward to seeing it...
2. someone else wrote a tiny piece of fic using Anne Bishop's Three Realms's universe and plucking Ronon down as a Warlord Prince and Elizabeth as a Queen, sort of the Invisible Ring set up. And now I can't stop thinking about the Three Realms universe. Personally while I like Elizabeth just fine I don't like her nearly enough to want to write a fic with her as the Queen, but I could totally see that particular dynamic with John and Ronon. Except of course it's rather hard for John to be a Queen since he isn't female... except then an evil tiny voice in your head starts going 'well it's totally a mismatch sort of thing so you could include a new caste of males that fufilled the same social role as queens if you wanted to...' and then ... I can't shut of my brain. It's a terrible terrible affliction and I'm absolutly not going to write this theoretical monster.
But were I to do so, I'd probably set it among Ronon's people with John having come in from Atlantis to trade but then having to stay there for months and months and so after he purchases Ronon because he's about to be tortured to death (killing sport?) he has to keep up the fiction that he owns Ronon and doesn't dare tell the truth to him while he figures out how to get what he needs from this world which would be not Setida and to get all the info that Atlantis would need.
and come to think of it it's pretty much a straightforward slave cliche senario and doesn't need the whole Blood/Black Jewels set up but... it would be so fun to include that and try and weave the set up of Atlantis with that reality.
John would be the new caste I just made up that I can't quite make myself call King because I'd feel too silly but is the equivelent to Queen caste and wear the Ebon Gray, Ronon would be a Warlord Prince and wear the Red, Rodney would be a Prince and Black Widow and wear the Green (or just a Prince and wear the Gray, I'm not sure), Teyla would be a Priestess and wear the Red.
The power dynamics would be fun...
