So, I've been gradually feeling my fannishness return, which is NICE. And I've been finally catching up on last Summer's Rookie Blue season. I'm up to episode 5, with the Anthrax/heroin scare.
[Spoiler (click to open)]Okay, so... I just don't know what it is, but it's like... I like Nick and yet don't fancy him so much either. I like him and then... I JUST DON'T KNOW. He

I have a feeling that the stab in the heart thing might be why I kind of stopped watching. I was already feeling very non-fannish, so the prospect of a season where my ship was busted and going away from each other was... not very encouraging. I just was not up for that sort of thing. Even if I feel like OF COURSE they will find their way back, I just did feel like doing the tropey 'they find other people' thing.
And I'm kind of glad I waited, because now I feel like I can watch it and be fine with it and it isn't a chore or anything. Heh.
Yeah, I get what you mean about some moments feeling OOC. Plus, the cast, as always, is still so big that many of the characters get pushed to the side without much to do, which I always feel like endangers them for imminent death.
Yeah, Nick. I just... I don't DISLIKE him, and I feel like I DO like him, and yet... I sort of don't at the same time? IT'S WEIRD OKAY. I don't like that he's sort of replaced Chris, to be honest. I really loved Chris, and Nick was such a similar character who kind of took over most of his relationships. I'm not sure why they felt the need for that, really.
At this rate I should finish the season off in a week or two, so I'll be fit and ready for season 5! With hopefully lots of Sam/Andy doing their thing. :)
It was definitely a "gird your loins" type of thing for me leading up to the start of S4, but I just couldn't NOT watch. Especially after the S3 finale. I needed to know what happens.
Key for watching S4: remembering that everything that happens is so Sam and Andy can grow as individuals. They are BOTH so incredibly flawed. And both have these huge barriers to letting people in or trusting that people will stay in their lives. So even though I hated the majority of S4 I do understand why (I just wish it had been slightly different).
I've always been super ambivalent to Nick. I've never really liked him (even in S3) because they didn't actually create a character. He's a guy who was a soldier. Other than that, they haven't developed any sort of story for him which is why I don't care about him. Dear writers, please give me something that makes him interesting or makes me like him beyond being someone's constant love interest. I would really love if they did a PTSD storyline with him or have him actually struggle with something.
I really do miss the emphasis on the original characters in S4. I think you'll love what they do with Ollie though. He's always a charmer.
Heh, yes! I've been noticing a lot of scenes where one of the cops has some meaningful life moment that they wax on about that usually pares down to 'you have to learn to love and you will be happy!'. Followed by Sam having a thoughtful look on his face as he learns. Hahaha.
Whatever! Learn, my little ones. Learn and get back together!
