7. Don't know where you live, but the possibilities include otter (if you're on the Atlantic coast in a few places), fisher and nutria. Smaller possibilities might be mink or weasel. Muskrats don't run like that -- they look a lot more like a cross between a beaver and a hamster. Ferrets are not large, usually, and are only domesticated these days. I've seen wild otter in Virginia on the coast and along a river in New York state.

I'm in Madison, Wisconsin, although I was driving by one of the lakes at the time. It's also fairly cold here now. The thing was wet and sleek and had a very otter-ish body style, plus it had that sort of awkward, jerky gait as it ran (slowly) across the road. I think I did a triple-take when I saw it. Maybe the zoo has an escapee...

Hmm. After looking at a WI state wildlife page, I sort of think it was a mink. Just a big one. We have otter, but they're apparently very localized. They mostly live only by the Mississippi River, and that's over a hundred miles away from us.

Didn't you have flooding fairly recently? A hundred miles isn't impossible displacement for a water-based species after flooding.

Rigel and Beanpot and I were talking about doing a (Sam-friendly or at least non-character-bashing) friending meme...
Yay pornucopia! (there is so much awesome stuff there. You are so awesome for hosting and running it)

Muskrats here can look kinda like otters sometimes...

That would be a very cool meme. Especially if advertised on the SGA noticeboard where we could all find new SGA friends. ;)

You guys are so awesome for writing in the pornucopia! I can't believe the awesome stuff you're all turning out! YAY!

Yep, well...we're figuring it out. I posted a blueprint (locked) on my LJ so other people can help us figure out how to word things because we're using up all our words over at pornucopia :)

I can't believe I wrote porn.
(also, your stuff is really rocking over there. lots. And it's so much fun watching people play around and experiment with different pairings and ideas.)

The pornucopia is a blast - I just keep drabbling. So thank you for hosting.

And re 6 - I'd also add Reno 911 Miami to that list. My friends and I loved it and others look at me like I have two heads.

YES. Reno 911! I laugh like a hyena during that, and people watch it and then tell me, 'It's not THAT funny.'

But, YES! Yes, it is!

I will never listen to Pachabel's Canon in D in the same way again. Or without bursting into silent but deadly giggles.

4- I have a lot of stuff in my head. Things I think, things I want to bring forth. And I can't ever seem to get it all out. It feels like I'm trying to empty the ocean through a keyhole.

YES.

I'd bet muskrat or oppossum. I've never seen an oppossum in real life, but I understand they can get really huge and be kinda scary.

There were all kinds of muskrats down by the Rock River in Illinois where I grew up.

I've seen wild ferrets (in the winter phase, ermine) here in Colorado. They're fairly small and... skinny and long. Very cute by the way capering all over our hunting camp, but rather think not.

If it was *really* huge, it could maybe be a badger.

3- We should *so* play six degrees! My brother's initials are JL (same last name as me) and looks eerily like David Hyde Pierce!

Opossums are light colored, have skinny bald tails, and are hard to mistake for anything, even after they've been squashed flat in the middle of the road, which seems to be their most common state of existence, at least in my experience.

*cares way too much about this mystery, and desperately needs a life*
