Ow ow ow...

Well, so far 2005 has been a pain. My work situation has been growing increasingly stressful, with a boss that admits to poor communication skills and frequent lack of context contributing to a rather difficult work environment.

On top of that, now I've had a recurrence of an eye problem. Seems the top layer of tissue on my eyes isn't anchored firmly to the lower levels of tissue. So, when my eyes get dry, that top layer sticks to my eyelids. Then, when my eyes move or open, one of two things happens: either the tissue "snaps" back as it pulls loose from the eyelid (ouch), which hurts like hell for a few hours and leaves me with blurred vision for a few days. Or, even more fun, the tissue tears, with some being stuck to the eyelid and rubbing my eyeball raw beneath it. I had the latter occur saturday at 7am. On the 1-10 pain scale they ask you to use in the E.R., I rated it peaking at a 9. It wasn't any fun. First time anything has actually made me scream with pain.

So I'm on eyedrops and cream to help the eye heal, with the hope that with a little care and encouragement, maybe that top layer will eventually anchor itself the way it's supposed to. Otherwise there was talk by the ophthamologist about a grid of "anchors" to hold it down (not sure how they do that, but it sounds like something I'd rather avoid). Oh, and for kicks, my blood pressure spiked at 220/110 during this episode. Getting it checked next week with my "family doctor", to see what it's like when I'm not in agonizing pain. Likely high, from work stress, and poor lifestyle.

Time to adjust my priorities, I think.
