Summary: The monster inside Jasper lusts for human blood. When the desire is too strong to resist, there is only one who can help. Carlisle tamed this monster once, and now he must try again.
The morning after.
Jasper was quickly coming down from the stimulating high induced after feeding from Carlisle.
He descended the stairs and made his way into the living room. As he entered, he attracted the attention of Rosalie… and Edward.
Both were sitting on the large white sofa, watching television.
Rosalie smirked as she met Jasper’s gaze. “Fun night?” She drawled.
Jasper cringed, ignoring her question as he walked around to sit on the sofa.
“It was somewhat anti-climatic.” Edward answered for him, obviously reading his mind.
“Fucking hell, Edward, get out of my brain.” Jasper mumbled, staring at his feet.
Rosalie laughed.
Edward chuckled.
“Sorry if I hit a nerve. I was only joking. But, it is early, so I guess your sense of humor hasn’t kicked in yet. That’s alright, though. I can wait. I’ll just have to have a little patience.”
“Oh, god…” Jasper’s hands curled tightly around the edge of the couch. He concentrated wholly on breathing; Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale…
“Oh god, indeed.” Edward sneered.
“Could you please, please stop picking through my private thoughts?” Jasper begged, making eye contact with the mind reader.
“Maybe if you ceased to think about such perverted things, I would.” Edward’s eyes blazed.
Jasper sighed. “Okay. I’ll do my best.” He muttered, standing and gliding from the room.
“By the way, Jasper?” Edward called.
“What?”
“I do apologize if my behavior as an irrational cunt offends you. It was never my intention to allow my sulking to get in the way of your bedding our father.”
“Fuck.” Jasper swore through gritted teeth, cursing Edward and his mind reading as he moved quickly upstairs.
As he opened the door to his room and shuffled inside, he remembered that school went back today.
Shit, he thought - now he had to spend the entire day in a building that would be swarming with hormonal, hot-blooded humans.
Just perfect.
He found Alice standing in front of her wardrobe, naked except for her tiny red bra and matching underwear. She turned her head at the sound of the door closing. “Good morning.” She smiled, her voice musical and bright, but not cheerful.
“Morning.” Jasper mumbled, standing back to watch her.
“How are you feeling?” Her smile faltered a little and she turned back to face the rows of dresses hanging in front of her.
“I’m good, Alice. How are you?”
The small vampire sighed. “I am completely distraught.”
“Why?” Jasper stepped toward her, natural concern for his mate driving him to push past the painful shreds of emotion that pulsed from Alice’s tiny body.
Sensing his concern, she turned and giggled. “I cannot decide what to wear!” She exclaimed, motioning with a delicate hand to the impossibly large selection before her.
Jasper exhaled, half a smirk breaking out across his face. “I see your dilemma.” He said, moving to stand behind her, wrapping an arm around her naked waist. “But what’s wrong with what you’re wearing now?” He leaned down to whisper against her neck.
Alice sighed, her body relaxing in the strong, familiar arms. “I am serious, baby. It’s the first day back. I need to look… new, and exciting.”
“Well, if you turned up to class wearing this, I’m sure you’d have everyone excited.”
Alice clicked her tongue, twisting her neck to find Jasper’s lips. She kissed him quickly, pulling away too soon.
Jasper put a hand under her chin, wanting to bring her in for a deeper kiss, but she ducked her head, squirming out of his arms.
“Alice…” His voice was cautious.
“Don’t, Jasper.” Her voice was cold, short.
“Okay.” He sighed, stepping into the wardrobe, reaching up and pulling out a sunny yellow dress, knee length and flowing. “How about this?” He held the dress against her body. “I like it.”
“Hmm…” Alice hummed under her breath, taking the time to contemplate the item of clothing before her. Then her face brightened, and she smiled, clapping her hands together. “Yes! Yes, definitely this one! Its delightful! Just delightful, Jasper. Thank you.” She took the garment from his hand and slipped it over her head with ease. It slid into place over her small frame, clinging to all the right places, swaying gently about her knees.
“How do I look?” She asked, twirling around her mate.
“Gorgeous.” Jasper smiled, relief flooding his senses as he felt the warmth of Alice’s high spirits radiate through his cold bones.

Edward drove them to school.
It was windy and raining.
People ran from their cars to find shelter inside the building.
But the Cullens took their time, moving wistfully toward the front door.
Teenage girls grumbled and complained to their friends about their hair - They had straightened it this morning and everything! Now it would get all frizzy!
Rosalie smirked vainly, knowing she had not a single hair out of place.
Jasper walked beside Alice, hand in hand with the pixie-like vampire. Although she didn’t need it, Alice had added a long, black pair of tights and a jacket to her outfit. Knowing it would look odd if she turned up, in the wind and rain, wearing a summer dress.
The empath had chosen to dress suitably, again all in black. His body hugging leather jacket, combined with the brooding scowl on his face, caused more than a dozen boys and girls to avoid getting too close as they passed by.
The Cullens entered the school building through the main doors, gliding inside like dancers, looking like movie stars.
The bell rang, long and loud, to signal the start of the first lesson for the day.
Teenagers split from their groups as they made their way down the halls to class, calling out to each other and planning where to meet at lunch.
Alice pulled her hand from Jasper's grasp. "See you in biology." She squeaked, waving as she floated away down the hall.
As soon as she was gone, Jasper felt it crash down upon him. The weight of the warm, excited bodies. It was nothing like Port Angeles, he had room to move, to avoid touching their pulsing flesh. But still, the bloodlust was there, lurking in the pit of his stomach, waiting for the opportunity to claw its way out.
A hand on his shoulder, firm and tight. Edward.
"Can you do this?" He asked in a low voice.
Jasper felt the anxiety rolling from his brother's body. He exhaled slowly. "Maybe, if I hold my breath."
Edward gave his shoulder an encouraging squeeze, leaning close to the empath's ear. "I will be able to hear you from anywhere in this building. If you need me, if you need help, concentrate your thoughts and I'll come for you."
Jasper nodded, then frowned, turning his head to face Edward. "Your mood swings make me uncomfortable. I've never in my life met someone with such unstable, bizarre emotional patterns."
Edward laughed, it was a hollow sound. "You think because I don't have a hand around your throat, that I'm no longer furious?"
"You were never really furious, Edward. You were angry, yes. Scared, yes. But furious... No, that was just a mask, a clever way to disguise what you were really feeling."
Edward let his hand fall from Jasper's shoulder. "And what was that?"
"Jealousy."
